You know, silly as it may seem (and I generally think celebs are not anything other than people who are way overpaid to play for a living) I really do care that he died too young. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who had a hard life and made the best of it. I don’t recall him complaining about the hardships life handed him (and he did have his fair share with the health problems he was born with).
So, it’s ok if you don’t care, I can understand that, but I will still offer up my prayers for his family and those who knew and loved him. You might try it, it might do your soul good.

Thank you brytlea!
I care as well. Whenever I see someone younger than me pass away, it makes me realize that every day above ground is a gift.
Did I watch him much? I was too old for that show. But I did see Dana Plato in Playboy.
What a shame that these kids were exploited by that TV machine.
I hope he is at peace.
good post. I have a friend that used to run in similar circles as Gary Coleman did when she was in LA (she had the opportunity to hang out with celebs and he happened to be at the same place on more than one occasion). She claimed it drove him nuts when people would ask him to say the famous catch phrase. People would run after him tauntingly saying, “come on Gary, just say it”, or “what you talkin’ ‘bout Gary?”!
The Saturday night live “A Christmas Carol” spoof was pretty good with Gary uttering “what you talkin’ ‘bout everyone?” at the end.
Spare me your sanctimonious crap. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the so far anonymous American soldier killed today in Afghanistan. He should mean more to FReepers than some entertainment kid, I think. But that's just me.
