This has to be the worst hijacking of a thread I have ever seen. A quest for movie recommendations goes off topic at post 3 and goes on for another 250 posts of nostalgia, never to go back on topic again.

Hi, amom. I never got contributions for anything (I wouldn’t know a good box of cigars from a bad one). Another freeper sent a box of cigars to me for the person posing as military/DITHF. At the time I stupidly didn’t mind giving out my address to someone I didn’t know on the internet.

I had corresponded in email with what I thought were several different wives (different email accounts) of the “group” of active duty guys claiming to post under the DITHF name from active duty overseas. I thought they were legitimate but was duped. I forwarded the cigars to a stateside post office box one of the “wives” gave me via email. That’s as far as it went.

And, yes, Sneakypete outed the guy—vaguely remember several members of a military group were making sure the guy was held accountable. I told one of the guys in the group investigating everything I knew, giving him the post office box address and email addresses. I think the perp was former reserves or some such. The group did not share the results of their findings with me.

Sneakypete and I used to get into it on those threads! But we ended up email buddies after a time.

Can’t believe this has been over a decade!
