Arizona's new crackdown on illegal immigration will increase crime in U.S. cities, not reduce it, by driving a wedge between police and immigrant communities, police chiefs from several of the state's and the nation's largest cities said Tuesday.
The new Arizona law will intimidate crime victims and witnesses who are illegal immigrants and divert police from investigating more serious crimes, chiefs from Los Angeles, Houston and Philadelphia said. They will join their counterparts from Montgomery County, Md., and a half-dozen other U.S. cities in meeting Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Wednesday morning to discuss the measure.

Enforce the GD law.
It will boost crime by annoying the criminals?
The Quisling traitor media is in full panic mode at the thought that 20 million invaders won’t be getting the vote, to vote for life as welfare ‘rats.
You betchya! Enforcing all laws drives a wedge between police and criminals or criminal immigrants! Let's just stop with all the laws already.....
It seems to me that at least 3 cities need new police chiefs. What idiots!
Police chiefs are political appointments, and I'd be willing to bet every one of them was appointed by a Democrat.
The comPost speaks.
Houston is a sanctuary city, so it doesn’t surprise me that the police chief there takes this stand. That argument sounds like a spin.
I’d recommend these “U.S. cities” pass the same law Arizona has passed. Eventually, the illegal aliens will have no where to go and will just go home.
Since these chiefs come from places which already suffer from growing crime rates, who are they to talk?
My thoughts exactly.....
The argument made by the chiefs in question assumes there are currently substantial levels of cooperation between the police and various immigrant groups. That may be true in some areas, but I would suspect those are exceptions, rather than the rule.
Just MHO, of course.
Proof that those who desperately try to avoid the truth, usually trip over it.
If that is even true, then make an exception that anyone providing information to the police about a crime, or who might serve as a witness, will not be asked about immigration status at anytime during that process. Not a difficult policy to think of for anyone who actually wants to address the problem rather than use it as an excuse to ignore all immigration laws.
But I bet there are many illegals who will never assist the police simply because the are here illegally, just as many never cooperate with the census.
-—sure it will —they’ll be teaming up with all those “assault weapons” that are “on the streets”, per Pepe’ Caderone, et cetera, ad nauseum-—(sarc)
Not where I live, they are elected. Here in Orlando, we elected the city of Orlando police chief and the Orange County sherrif--who just happened to be married to each other. Very unusual. Both are minorities and they seem to both be doing a pretty good job. There are a lot less murders and carjackings than usual.
Police Chiefs are Political appointees by liberal mayors. What they are really scared of is that the illegals will leave AZ and come to THEIR cities. But then they can apply their ‘welcome with open arms’ backseat driver theories.
Yesterday Megan Kelly did a great investigation into a SEIU protest on a bankers personal home property and she got the police chiefs of both DC and Montgomery County Maryland on together and cross examined them together, and they contradicted the police records and phone logs to protect themselves. The issue was they refused to arrest anyone from SEIU for trespassing or disturbing the peace because they claimed they didnt 'witness' it. Of course it's all on camera and she played it for them.
I believe these guys must be union operatives in bed with Obama.
Meanwhile, the VAST majority of cops/deputies on the street and duly-elected Sheriffs DO THEIR JOB ADMIRABLY AND SUPPORT THE LAWS OF THE LAND.
