As if this would matter when Obama apologizes for America, to foreigners, once more and it's own party give a foreign president, while criticizing America, standing ovations.
Why is the State Department even operating under the pretense of protecting US interests and US citizens abroad?

Fake checkpoints are a hallmark of modern civil war.
Since Mexico is moving to the USA, I'm pinging the CW2 list for general reference.

Okay on the warning, so what are we supposed to do when we encounter one? Run them and get killed? And how we supposed to know the real from the fake?

You’d have to be pretty stupid to go to Mexico these days, even on business. If I was forced to go because of my job I would make sure I flew in, took care of what needed taking care of, and fly out as soon as possible.

“so what are we supposed to do when we encounter one?”
Don’t encounter one.
Don’t go there.
If you don’t walk down a dark alley loudly counting out a fat wad of hundred dollar bills you won’t get mugged for doing so.
Stay out of Mexico. Just because we are not at formal war does not mean you won’t be treated that way if you go there.

This is insanity, and another indication, if one were needed, that Mexico is a failed state. This can kill tourism from Sinaloa through Kino Bay to Rocky Point.

If they are putting up false stops and shooting people who don’t stop (and probably robbing or kidnapping those who do stop, then tourism is already dead.

Man, no kidding. I went to Tijuana, ONCE, back in the early 90s. After being there 5 min, I was wondering why ANYBODY in their right mind would want to visit that Sh1t Hole of a country!

That was not so until today. Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) was an oasis of good cheer in a Mexican province whose border towns were increasingly under attack by Mexican drug lords. This report is all over the radio and television news in Arizona. It’s the sort of thing that can impact tourism for some time to come.

I’ll tell you right now that very few parents will be dumb enough to allow their kids to go to Rocky Point or Caba this summer. It’s just way too dangerous.

Why is the State Department even operating under the pretense of protecting US interests and US citizens abroad? Traditionally, the State Department is used to provide less-than-talented kids from elite families with something resembling gainful employment.
