Alpert, who is also seeking the Democratic Senate nomination, said the Times revelations are "pretty striking" and fly in the face of Blumenthal's public image.

There's only one reason the NYT broke this story at this time and it isn't because they give a rip about some liberal lying.

Is the NYT going after Blumenthal because he used to work for the Washington Post?

Next polling numbers should be interesting.
Last polling Rasmussen numbers from May 6.
Election 2010: Connecticut Senate
Linda McMahon (R) 39%
Richard Blumenthal (D) 52%
Some other candidate 6%
Not sure 4%

The NYT is exposing Blumenthal before he wins the democrat nomination. The democrats are almost certain to win in the general election..... but not with a dirty Blumenthal, exposed after the nomination.

People best be very careful. The dems are pulling a set up. They want to get rid of candidates that voted O care and replace them with candidates that look like they listen to the people.
This is the way they intend to win and counter the Tea Party people.

If I were Merrick I wouldn’t say a whole lot about his Turbine Generator Maintenance days. He took a reputable company founded by a stand-up, old time Allis Chalmers field engineer, fattened up the books by taking on a bunch of jobs that couldn’t possibly be completed, and got pushed out by the other investors when things went to crap. What he knew about running a real business you could put in a thimble and still have room for a 16 oz. Bud. We call guys like this fast-sh*t’n horses.
Of course he will most likely appeal to a lot of folks from Conn.
To: Graybeard58
If Blumenthal were exposed after winning the nomination, it wouldn’t matter. Under the “Torricelli precedent,” the Democrats are “entitled” to a replacement candidate.

So, you are saying that Blumenthal was exposed now, and after the primary they can use the old Clinton tactic of “that’s old news”?
Or is the idea to get rid of Blumenthal, elect Alpert so an “untainted” dim can win?
I guess “either/or” would work too.

I was thinking along the lines of your latter statement but yes, they will use whichever is necessary.

Exactly. They knew this would come out in say Sept.after the pub primary. They did the dems dirty work for them.

I don’t think the repubs have a chance either way. This was exposed by Linda McMahon who looks like she is going to win the primary. There is plenty of dirt in Wrestling that makes her unelectable.

I saw the video of Blumenthal talking about Vietnam this morning, he made it clear that he served in the war when we all know he didn’t. Linda McMahon or Rob Simmons should run that video at least five times every single day between now and election day.
