Former First Lady Laura Bush has come out against the Arizona immigration law, pointing to the discrimination that her own Irish ancestors, named Welch, faced in their time.
In an interview with Fox News, Bush said the new law merely showed an upsurge in prejudice similar to what her Irish ancestors faced.

>>Whats with all the Laura Bush is a freaking moron threads lately?
<<
What’s with all her idiotic quotes that PROVE she is a moron? Wake up.
The purpose of amnesty and the Bushes defending it, is that the big farmers, meat processors, etc want undocumented cheap labor to do these nasty jobs. It is status quo and cheap labor. And there is no relationship to Laura’s Irish ancestors, who were not allowed to be here illegally and were made citizens. In some cases immediately pressed into service in the Union army to be immediate cannon fodder rendered so by their own relations from the South. Same invisible owners using people. No, not a commie I.
Yes, there was hurricane damage and flooding at the time. I personally don’t recall it being cited as the reason for the perception his poor performance, though.
Why are you telling me to “wake up”, you simple punk?
She was a good First Lady. She’s not doing herself any favors these days.
I don’t think Mrs. Bush has read the bill, she certainly needs to.
Someone tell this woman this isn’t the late 1800s or early 1900s....Gezzzz...
Why don’t all the Bush’s just retire and go away?
Far away....
I have been wrong about many things in my life, and Laura Bush is just another thing I been wrong about. I’m really disappointed.
When you have the blue blood pedigree of the Bush Family, Senators going back a few generations, and wealth up the ying yang, getting into Harvard is no great shakes.
Even Michelle Obama got into Yale Law School, and anyone listening to her vocabulary knows she wasn’t put there on her individual merits.
lol....thats what the problem is. Its not that we dont want people to come to the US, its that we want them to come here legally.
Bingo!
However, in light of her recent public comments that seem to (a) buy the leftist lie that the new Arizona 'zero tolerance' immigration law is a legal fig leaf for Arizona police to randomly arrest anyone who 'looks Hispanic' and throw them in jail and, (b) her surprising remarks about 'being O.K. with gay marriage' combine to render Mrs. Bush a gigantic disappointment to many.
I never assumed Laura Bush was a hard core conservative (her husband sure wasn't) but if she holds these left-wing beliefs on serious social/cultural issues, I wish she would have kept them to herself and thus maintained her 'image' as an intelligent woman with good moral values. Unfortunately, Laura Bush now appears to have become (or always was) a somewhat feckless woman who holds positions on serious social and political issues that seem to mimic the insanity of the left. That is regrettable.
Fortunately, the opinions of Laura Bush mean little, today. Still, as this thread demonstrates, she remains a disappointment.
She was and is a air head.
If she doesn’t get a pair of ear-plugs quick, I fear nothing will be left.
With this and her pro-gay marriage stance, losing respect for her seems more likely than ever.
Poor Pat, She had other problems, Betty Ford was a solid lefty and had other big problems.
She REALLY must not want to sell ANY books. :)
I just threw away a snail mail request from Dubya askin’ for $$ for his library or center or whatever.
He is a good man, but based on the nonsense his wife is spewin’, and his lack of fire in the belly to take on the communists who took over after he left, I am not interested at this time.
Bush didn’t make it on the color of his skin.
The man has an MBA. The only president to have one.
He may not have a lick of common sense, but intelligence he’s got.
I’m only 2 (paternal) and 4 (maternal) generations from Norway, so by Laura’s standard I should be opposed to the Arizona law. She’s an idiot.
