For defense, Hornady XTP (JHP), and any old cheap russkie stuff for plinking. It’s 9x18mm Makarov.

I really like this round. It delivers plenty of kinetic energy but is really manageable.

The KGB used it for 60 years.

Over penetration isnt an issue.
I kinda see it as a mini 45

If you look at a CZ 83, you’ll see that it is possible to file that thing off (it’s the only aluminum part on the gun). But the risk of screwing more stuff up was too much for me (after the “grips incident”).

Thanks. I really enjoy learning new stuff, melted grips and all. If I ever refinish another pistol, what I learned will come in handy, especially what NOT to do. Send me your CZ and I'll take care of it. I have plenty of Gun Kote left.

What would be the expected outcome if i used your method to strip the gun, then soaked it overnight in CLP and dried it? Would the gun remain ‘silvery’ without tinting to reddish rust?

So I think this thing should be dubbed “Phoenix”

It has risen from the ashes. Or from the Hotpoint Oven LoL

Of all the mil-surp CZ’s I’ve seen, yours is by far the nicest. That guy is top shelf.

Mine is in pretty good shape it has 3 tiny nicks on the forward part of the slide.

I love this firearm.

CLP? That has Teflon, so no good with making finish stick. You need to follow the directions as stated. Do that, and you're laffin'. Gun Kote 2400 Data Sheet (pdf)
