Legally this isn't huge, funding still must be spent for this year as that is already law. But to attach it on to something the presdent will sign and have the entire appropriatons committee on board?!!!

It sends a huge message to Ozero that his giant leap backwards by canceling NASA's plans to return to the moon is in serious jeopardy! It shows the wind is blowing strong against him on this.

Help fight for NASA

Obummer should be put on a Chinese moon rocket as the first traitor to be exiled to the moon.

In other words, it’s safe until the election. After the election, all hell breaks loose.

. . .$108 billion back-to-the-moon program . . .

What's another measly one hundred and eight billion dollars?!?! It's the trillions that really add up.

.

. . remind me why it's worth it?

“remind me why it’s worth it?”

That money is spread out over time and is a tiny portion of federal discretionary spending.

What does it buy us?

Whitey on the Moon

A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face and arms began to swell.
(and Whitey’s on the moon)
I can’t pay no doctor bill.
(but Whitey’s on the moon)
Ten years from now I’ll be payin’ still.
(while Whitey’s on the moon)
The man jus’ upped my rent las’ night.
(’cause Whitey’s on the moon)
No hot water, no toilets, no lights.
(but Whitey’s on the moon)
I wonder why he’s uppi’ me?
(’cause Whitey’s on the moon?)
I wuz already payin’ ‘im fifty a week.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Taxes takin’ my whole damn check,
Junkies makin’ me a nervous wreck,
The price of food is goin’ up,
An’ as if all that shit wuzn’t enough:
A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face an’ arm began to swell.
(but Whitey’s on the moon)
Was all that money I made las’ year
(for Whitey on the moon?)
How come there ain’t no money here?
(Hmm! Whitey’s on the moon)
Y’know I jus’ ‘bout had my fill
(of Whitey on the moon)
I think I’ll sen’ these doctor bills,
Airmail special
(to Whitey on the moon)

The playbook is getting very tattered. Find a program with a noisy constituency and then propose to eliminate it. This is another charade. No one seriously believed this program would be eliminated. Richard Nixon was the last president who tried to avoid spending appropriated funds, which resulted in a law that requires the administration to implement what the Congress approves. The Congress decides what gets funded. The administration and the agencies have to manage the programs to accomplish the legal objectives with the resources provided.

Good news, sure hope they stop that maniac trying to keep us behind everyone. NASA and the military are the top 2 or 3 government spending there is. You actually get results.

“NASA and the military are the top 2 or 3 government spending there is. You actually get results.”

Strongly agreed.

Anyone criticizing NASA spending should try living life without the benefits it has brought us the last fifty years.

Some even would not be alive. So much medical technology has spun off and safety equipment.

I am still stunned that there are Freepers that are so ignorant about what NASA enables for our nation and humanity.

They paint themselves into political corners they don’t see all the benefits that are literally all around them in daily life. Sometimes not everything is politics.
There are larger forces at work.

We will return to the Moon right before the Greeks. This is idiotic posturing because anyone that can add and subtract knows this is never going to happen. We are broke for at least a generation, and that generation is going to have to adjust to some major changes in standard of living, and globe leading largely meaningless gestures like returning to the moon isn’t something we can or should be doing with borrowed money.

SpaceX will get there and be waiting at their lunar base for those government employees to show up. The SpaceXers will invite them in for a cup of tea and some biscuits.

The moon program is PEANUTS compared to the rest of the spending.

Let’s see: Neil Armstrong vs. Barry Obama in a fight over the future of space exploration. Guess who wins! One has to go a long way to get Neil mad, but Barry managed.

Again, the civilzations that shrink from the frontiers will atrophy and die.

Keeping on the cutting edge of exploration is key to our long term survivial.

Again..

The nations that lead on the frontiers, dictate the course of human history.

NASA is the corporate R&D of America, and even humanity.

Watch that Neil Degrasse Tyson vid I posted.

Tell me where he is wrong?

We’re still a long way from Space’s Golden Age but at least the hope lives on.
