Here is something from August of 2009 on how well boycotts by Mexicans work.

Great story. Was this reported in the local paper? If so, do you have a link?

Most of the Mexicans mentioned were already here legally.

If they're here legally, they're Americans (or on the way to being Americans, let's call them transitionals). Mexicans are people from Mexico who are not here legally.

I agree. There were a few years where most of my friends were Hispanic (mainly Mexican). I assumed most of them were here legally, but I never asked.

Anyone here legally, welcome aboard!

Anyone here illegally, from any country, go home-we don't have enough jobs or social services.

Anyone thinking of coming here: Don't come in we're full up.

Let’s see-idiotically high self esteem that’s totally divorced from reality, double-digit IQs, yammering about rights without any sense of responsiblity.....

Here’s my message to them:

Get the f%*k out of my country-and take the homegrown bungholes who fit the above description with you, too.

Heehee! No Democrats.

What a threat.

I predict at least 20 or 30 years with very few Democrats.

Everything they do angers the majority of Americans.
The fact that they turned off their fax machines and ran around with their fingers in their ears singing or saying, “I can't hear you, I can't hear you!” when we told them no Cap n’ Trade and NO healthcare bill will cost them heavily in NO-vember.

I used to work with this “interesting” and sometimes annoying dishwasher that would threaten people with, “You got a week Mister!” which meant that he wouldn’t talk to you for a week.

Most people were polite and pretended like it bothered them (he was somewhat likable), but many laughed at him and asked if they could have 2 weeks.

When an entire country is building walls to keep you out, you probably shouldn’t make the threat, “I won’t come to visit tomorrow”

It’s like a bad relationship after you break up, “You won’t find anyone like me!”
Good that’s why I’m breaking up with you....

Except when an element of the work force is here illegally- free market cannot work as it should. Legal citizens cannot compete with illegals for jobs. Illegal workers create a false low in the labor market. The dirty secret is that illegals cannot live on the low wages either which is why they overwhelm our social services and medical care. The benefits of hiring illegal workers are low wages, little or no benefits, and they will tolerate unsafe or otherwise inferior working conditions. The employer saves money hiring illegals but the taxpayers must pay the difference by paying for social services and medical care for the illegal workers. This puts an odd skew on free market that cannot be good.

Another issue that is seldom touched on- not all businesses are willing to hire illegals. In every industry that hires large numbers of illegals- agriculture, construction- you name it there are businesses that follow the laws and hire only legal workers. Those businesses must compete with businesses that do hire illegals and it is an unfair competition. Many businesses have been put out of business because they cannot compete with those that hire illegals. If we willingly allow some businesses to violate laws in order to show a higher profit- that is not what free market is all about either.

Hiring illegals should never be part of free market- there should be no illegal labor in the work force.

Mexicans are ok in my book. Illegal Immigrants however...

I agree. One of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure of knowing was a legal immigrant that I worked along side of for about 25 years. He raised his family, insisted his children learn English and made Spanish their second language. He loved the USA and hated the Mexican government. He finally, after many, many tries, passed his citizenship test and came in to work smiling from ear. He was royally pissed when they passed the amnesty and let people who never studied a day in their life for the exams or bothered to learn English to become citizens.

He was a great guy. His brother on the other hand was something of a jerk, but that is true in any family, no matter what ethnicity or race.

You can hire an illegal for next to nothing only if and whem you need him/her - and you do not need to be responsible for feeding and housing him/her or their family.

We are paying for these criminal scumbags every day in every way.

I don’t know the source - it was clipped by a family member (in Texas) of a FReeper last year and sent to her. She posted it on her Fotki account.

I got it from a mutual friend, also a FReeper.

The date is penciled in on the margin, but the newspaper and web address have been half-trimmed from the picture.

“Except when an element of the work force is here illegally”

Well, that’s your issue, then: not that employers are “exploiting” workers, but that they’re taking advantage of illegality. Eating the fruit of lawbreaking, if you will.

“The dirty secret is that illegals cannot live on the low wages either which is why they overwhelm our social services and medical care.”

Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly. Free benes is certainly a big incentive, but it’s not a necessary requirement for survival. Not everyone has to live according to the American standard of success (or poverty, for that matter). They’re more than willing to put up with what we consider low wages. Low, heck, it’s obviously better than what they otherwise get at home. Plus, the reason it’s a stereotype that Mexicans ride eight to a car and live 20 to an apartment derives from the fact that they economize in order to support themselves and families back over the border.

Oh, there’s also the fact that they pay no payroll taxes. Or any taxes, really, besides sales taxes.

As to the first part of your reply I wasn’t the poster that said employers are exploiting illegal workers.

All illegals if they are here any time at all take advantage of social services and medical care- putting the burden of their low wages on taxpayers.

Let me give you an example of how it really works- lets say an illegal man is working construction and living with 8 other men in a house so he’s working hard and living cheap- sending money back to Mexico to his family. His family becomes dependent on the money he sends. The illegal man gets seriously ill or hurt, so he goes to the ER for medical care, he can’t live any cheaper than he is and doesn’t want to short the money he sends his family so he doesn’t pay or even attempt to pay the hospital for his care. Then a few weeks later he has too much beer after work and gets in a fist fight or gets a DWI, he qualifies for a court appointed lawyer so again he is being a burden. If he ends up in jail he is really a burden on the taxpayers. If he gets out of trouble at some point he decides he is lonely so he gets his family to the U.S. and then he really becomes a burden. Now he has a wife and children that need medical care, kids need educated- free school breakfast and lunch- any children born in the U.S. qualify for welfare programs and on and on it goes. How much of a burden each illegal becomes is only up to the illegal because bleeding hearts have made sure there is program after program available. The fact is if they are here any time at all they are all a burden to taxpayers at some point.

I have a guy that does my grass, but he’s another Vietnam Marine. That makes him twice my brother, once for Vietnam and once for being a Marine. I take care of FAMILY first. Then I MIGHT look elsewhere, but always at AMERICANS!

People who think it’s economically necessary to rely upon a cheap labor force sound to me like people who said long ago that America would collapse without slavery.

Great minds and all that.... I've been saying that to my liberal friends for years and it's lost on them. Why don't people see this obvious parallel.

Labor is a commodity like anything else. Jobs will get done no matter we have to pay, even if it’s a little more, just like they were done after free slave labor disappeared.

Exactly, the second part of your statement is that as labor becomes more expensive, innovation happens and reduces the need for labor. Over the long haul everyone's standard is raised. We didn't become an industrial nation because of cheap labor if that were the case Mexico would be a world leader in innovation.
