In a marvelous, insightful, 432 page book, Laura devotes exactly ONE LINE to her belief that "no one can walk in anyone else's shoes." She devotes page after page on their struggle to have children and her firm belief that no matter what was wrong with her babies, she would give birth to them and love them.

As a matter of fact, the only comment on abortion came as a critique of Katie Couric and the media trap. Larry King pressed her on the issue in his interview, and she didn't lie.

It's not as if, as some are implying, or stating outright, she deceitfully waited until her husband was out of office to preach pro-abortion views.

(Some of the comments on this thread are ludicrous).

I'm sorry that anyone would decide not to buy this wonderful book because of this. I think it's a mistake, because it is loaded with so much information and detail about what went on for 8 years in the protection of this great nation. It gives detail about the greatness of the American people. It gives insight into the character of those who led us for eight years.

It is a GOOD read, and well worth it for anyone. I hope it remains on the best seller lists for a long time, and that those who don't want to buy it, borrow it.

In the mean time, let's pray for Laura.........and thanks for the free advice. ;)

I haven't read the book.  I haven't seen the interviews.  If she said she thinks this is a matter of choice for individual women, the comments are less ludicrous than you think.

There is one point I need to clarify here.  I earlier said that I wouldn't buy the book because of one comment, and that wasn't entirely true.

When the name George W, and Laura Bush are mentioned, I am caused to contemplate what might have been, Republicans in control of Congress and the White House.  I am not compelled to read ghost written books that explain what went on behind the scenes as JW pushed 'no child left behind', more than doubled the budget of the Department that focuses on brain-washing our children, swore that we had nothign to fear from Islam as it took on facets of Christianity in the public arena in a methodical step by step process, pushed through the Part D addition to Medicare, demagogued the plight of illegal immigrants and supported making them citizens, allowed NASA to flail so disgustingly that we now have no way to put humans in space...

In truth, this tome doesn't appeal to me on any level whatsoever.

Oui vey...

Yes, let's do our best to portray George and Laura Bush as the perfect models of what we want in reasoned leadership.  And while we're at it, to hell with Conservatism.  /s

I have no problem with praying for Laura, but it baffles me why you think you need to.  Didn't you state she hadn't been wrong on abortion?
