My ex is a social worker with a bachelor’s. After 20 years she was making what I as making as a junior engineer. (50K) She has friends with Master’s and they all make 6 figures. Your niece will probably do just fine.

Median salary for a teacher in New Jersey is 75,000, not including benefits. The pension is quite generous too.

Yeah, but he’ll be able to debate the existence of the burger with his fellow flippers. I have a nephew that has a doctorate in Philosophy too. We don’t talk much. I stopped at a 200 level logic course, but I can fix my own lawn mower.

One of my kids is getting a BS in Para-Legal Studies...
She will get a job easy enough....probably pay 6 figures fairly fast.
The other went to a nice expensive school to be a "hair stylist" she will probably make more money than both my other kid and I both. Ha!!
The difference is she can make what she wants to make as a free lancer........
Crazy

How about those two great degrees, Woman’s Studies and African American Studies?
They’re probably on the rolling on the ground laughing list.

I don’t see Women’s Studies at the bottom of that list and shouldn’t it be? Also, I get a kick out of the teachers who get doctorates in education so they can play principal and get called “Dr” for the world’s easiest PhD.

I think studying women is wonderful. I’ve been doing it for almost fifty years and have found it very rewarding. Confusing at times, but rewarding.

Many of them stayed in school for advanced degrees since the job market was so weak when they first graduated. It has not improved and now they have even more debt.

Stepdaughter is stylist. She makes a killing, but she does have a natural talent. Now if she could only manage her money, she wouldn’t be borderline bankrupt.

I know too many folks that have ED degrees...that paid a lot of money for them...and hate the job...or are out of a job.
Even the luke warm moderate libs hate the job in the big urban areas.....but they know who supports them. The Unions and and local government...so they vote their way.
That said...I know some un-employed "teachers"...that won't move...and are mooching off of family...because they can, and they don't want to sacrifice.
