Its going on 16 month now since President Bush left the White House. Do I really need to say how much wished he were still there? I have chosen for the quote of the month the speech President Bush gave on May 24, 2004, because it goes perfectly with one of the photos of the month
My apologies for posting the dose so late.
Thanks for all the great links!
I am supposed to be at the book signing. I have jury duty,
so we’ll see what happens. What awful timing! *sigh*
So now Zerobama’s academy speech can be called “Bush’s Fault” as well?? LOL!
I hope you can make it to the signing . . . If you do, we expect a full report!!
THANK YOU for posting the photo of OUR president!
Sad that the NYT went skimpy on it. :(
I will do my best! Need to buy the book, too. I was going to
do that today, but jury duty just lasted too long.
Maybe they’ll have copies there!
My husband enjoyed a small event with GWB last week (dinner and 2 hour q and a session) and was blown away by him. Even the liberals in the room had to admit that he was an amazing guy after the evening.
I read in somewhere (local press) that they planned to have a 1000 copies on hand!
Thanks for letting me know that! I think there will be quite
a crowd there...from all around the area!
I’ll let everyone know what happened if I make it! :D
Hello All,
I attended “An Evening with Laura Bush” tonight in Austin. My friend and I were there with 1000 other adoring fans of Laura and George. Before she came out they came over the loud speaker and said that we needed to obey the Riverbend Guest rules that require you to sit quietly when the speaker comes in. So we all sat there quietly and the interviewer from the Austin Statesman came out and gave an introduction.. THEN Laura came out and everybody jumped up and yelled and cheered. It was great. I think she really loved being back in Austin. Karen Hughes was there and sat right in front on Laura. I was in the 3rd roll over to the side.. She was probably 30 feet away.
Laura started by reading from her book and then answered questions from the reporter. She was so relaxed and funny. I think she knew we were like family. She was as charming and cute as you would expect. There were probably planned questions, but also questions from the audience. She had interesting and funny answers to all. As part of the ticket price we got a signed copy of her book. I already had one from the pre-order, so now I have a special one that won’t be read.
My friend and I got there an hour and a half early and went in to get good seats. We talked to everyone around us and it was great to have all of these George and Laura fans in one room. I had just a wonderful time and one more wonderful memory to add to my collection.
I am right now reading Laura Bush’s book. The section about what went on at the White during 9/11 is very interesting.
I have always thought of the Bush’s as being honorable people. George did a lot of things I didn’t like—but he was like a breath of fresh air after we suffered through the lack of morals on the part of the Klintoons for so many years.
Oh, you’re so lucky. that must have been a wonderful experience.
Just to share with you guys, I found an old video of W from when he owned the Texas Rangers. He’s so relaxed and comfortable talking about baseball.

He opened up the evening talking through the events talking about 9-11 and that he realized how much his reaction and the image he portrayed would reflect on the nation and to our enemies. I do believe that his calm brave demeanor comforted the nation in a time of panic and signaled our resolve to the SOBs who did this.
The interview will air Thursday and Friday.
Headed out the door soon and will be out of town for a few days, home for a few days, then out of the country for a lotta days.
I'll pop in while I'm home to see what goodies everyone has come up with! :)
This thread is SOOoooooo refreshing!
Can you provide details of the event? ;)
I'm leaving soon, but wanted to give you a big DOSE welcome!
WOW! . . . Sounds like your husband was treated to a wonderful experience — too bad you couldn’t have attended as well (you would have loved it!)!
THANK YOU for sharing your full report from Austin . . . I love the fact that genuine Texans continue to “adore” our President and First Lady . . . I’m also so happy that you were able to attend this wonderful event — what a beautiful memory you now have!
Sounds like you have scheduled a busy yet AWESOME summer of travel! Take lots of photos to share over lunch!!
Thanks for the heads up!
