Palin angers faithful with choice in California race

Sarah Palin has angered fans by endorsing former Hewlett Packard chief Carly Fiorina instead of a more conservative challenger in her bid to become the Republican candidate aiming to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer.

Palin, a darling of the right-wing, announced on her Facebook page on Thursday that she was backing Fiorina as she attempts to win the Republican ticket for the election in California later this year.

The 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate said she was supporting Fiorina as a "Commonsense Conservative" on the basis of her "fiscal conservatism rooted in real life experience."

"We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America?s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career," Palin wrote in her endorsement.

However Palin's support has enraged supporters of California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who view Fiorina as a RINO -- Republican In Name Only -- an epithet used by right-wingers to disparage pro-business candidates who do not always embrace socially conservative stances.

"Sorry, governor Palin, but Chuck DeVore is California's only conservative candidate for senator," one poster wrote.

"I'm very disappointed in you, Sarah. You should know better!!," another posted added.

The bloom is off the rose. She is nothing more than politics as usual.

If Arlen Specter returned to the GOP, she would endorse him.

She’s ruining her brand, and is jeopardizing her family’s money machine. Is her point is that only RINOs can save the nation? Seems like a losing message.

So what, exactly makes Carly Fiorina a RINO? She’s pro-life, pro-gun, a fiscal conseravative, ???

Carly Fiorina announced many months ago that she would oppose off shore drilling in CA.

We’ve had enough RINO’s here.

That said, getting rid of Boxtard should be job One.

I love her for herself. As a politician, my admiration for her political side stopped with McCain’s endorsement.

She opened my eyes when she endorsed him.

Folks made excess for her saying she was returning a favor. There no such thing as “favors” in politics. It’s about you rub my back and I’ll rub yours. Period.

Let's see now....

McAmnesty

Carly "just give me the Money 'cuz Ima chik" Fiorina

Serious doubts about Sarah here...

She could push for DeVore, who could use the push

Fiorina just needs to retire to her yacht in the Mediterranean

“Will the faithful learn not to blindly worship?”

No. They never, ever will learn.

Stupid is what stupid does.

Which would be smart. This is California, and Senators are chosen statewide. A very socially conservative candidate would not win, plain and simple. If you vote for DeVore, in essence you're voting for Boxer.

Then take into account that the senator has to work with other Senators, and has Diane Feinstein as her/his senior Senator. Fiorina probably commands more respect than a state assemblyman.

Unless someone can provide evidence that Fiorina is actually pro-abortion, and not anti-abortion like she claims to be, I wouldn't be opposed to voting for her.

Hello, everybody get a grip. Do not fall for the LIBs game of “Divide and Conquer”. Governor Palin is doing what needs to be done - help electable candidates win and gather support for 2012. If we are going to fight one another, then the only winner is the Kenyan.

The LIBs have ben attacking her since the minute she was nominated and it has not abated one bit. Why all this phony concern for who she endorses? It helps the LIBs split her supporters. She is the one candidate they fear more than anyone.

Does anyone think the LIBs fear Romney? Or Huckabee? Or any of the other Tier II and III wannabees? No, only Governor Palin scares them. And with good reason - she can beat 0bambi - and they know it.

Remember, the great President Reagan was once a RAT and was not always pro-life. We forgave him his past sins and look at all the good he did. Give overnor Palin the same latitude. She deserves no less, even if she endorses a RINO or two. Big picture folks, big picture.

Ouch.

She clearly is edgeing over towards the GOP apparatchiki now.

Interesting how the intensity of low and scurrilous media attacks have tapered off in the meantime.

At this point, I would favor a couple of others over SP, who I still like very much, but is no longer my first choice. Perhaps she is supplanting Romney as the favored candidate of the GOP nomenklatura? She should be wary. Ford, Bush Mk.I, and Dole come to mind as past GOP machine favorites.

I wish she would drop all the comb-over types and come back.

I made my decision regarding this lady when she was talking at some Hollywood function and waxed lyrical over meeting the "interesting people."

She early on tapped into conservative "talk" and saw a gold mine and an exciting life. She is not the one conservatives are looking for but is the usual money grubber. I'm sure that when she looks in a mirror she feels a tingle up her leg!

Good honest people have been deceived by this woman's talk. Just watch her actions.

Sarah owed McLame big time. She had to pay him back. For w/o him we wouldn’t have her.

If Carly is Pro-life, pro-gun and strict borders, but liberal on some other stuff, and is the only one who has a chance of beating box-o-rocks, why are you people whining?

Chess moves are more complicated than checker moves. Deal with it. Sarah’s smart, loves her country and I support her. Now stop complaining and have faith.

Palin is fantastic EXCEPT for her consistent foul-ups in her endorsements. And that’s becoming a BIG problem for me.

If Free Republic had been around in 1980, people would have been posting that Reagan was a Rockefeller Republican RINO for putting George H.W. Bush on the ticket.

If Free Republic had been around in 1860, they also would have been posting that Lincoln was a Southern slaveholder sympathizer for not preaching immediate uncompensated abolition.

And if Free Republic had been around in 1777, they also would have been posting that George Washington was a secret redcoat Tory traitor because he was leading the Continental Army into starvation at Valley Forge and had been angling for a regular British Army commission decades ago.

We can’t keep holding people up to an unattainable standard of ideological or practical perfection and then tearing them down when they fail to meet it.

This pretty much seals her fate as a presidential candidate. I won’t vote for her now - that’s for sure.

***************

I still would - and at this point happily.

But her stock is dropping with me to be sure.

The last thing we need is another person willing to work within the staus quo. No more “architects”, where an exorcist is called for.
