Chuck DeVore on Palin Endorsement of Carly Fiorina (Get the FACTS, you Sybliistas)
UN Coverage ^ | 5/7/10 | Chuck DeVore

Posted on 05/07/2010 10:02:26 PM PDT by pissant

I just finished strong in a one hour debate with Tom Campbell and Carly Fiorina (to be broadcast Sunday morning — we’ll send you the media analysis when it comes in).

But before I went to bed tonight I wanted to take a moment to type out some of my thoughts on the day’s news and provide you with an update on my campaign.

If you didn’t hear, Sarah Palin posted a Facebook message earlier today about the California Republican primary.

She bashed Tom Campbell.

She tried to ignore me.

And she announced her support of Carly Fiorina.

She called Fiorina a “commonsense conservative” and said Fiorina is “the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.”

I like Sarah Palin. I think highly of her. But she got this dead wrong.

Carly Fiornia is NOT a conservative.

And she is certainly NOT the only candidate in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.

Let me address each of those issues with some cold, hard facts.

Is Carly Fiorina a conservative?

* She supported the Wall Street bailouts.

* She supported Cap and Trade.

* She supported the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer.

* She has criticized the new Arizona immigration law.

* Before she was fired as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she allowed the company to sell technology to Iran.

* And last year when liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans were trying to push through a massive tax increase in a California referendum, Carly Fiorina had “no comment.”

I call her a “John McCain Republican” – she talks the talk from time to time and says she’s a conservative but she has a “never with us when it counts” record just like McCain.

Don’t get me wrong, if a liberal Republican like Tom Campbell or a moderate Republican like Carly Fiorina win the primary instead of me, I will support them against Barbara Boxer.

But there’s no need to make a compromise like that.

This is not a primary election where electability needs to be a factor.

Again, let me offer the cold hard facts.

Here’s the most recent polling numbers from the independent Rasmussen poll.

* Fiorina 38% – Boxer 42%

* DeVore 39% – Boxer 42%

* Campbell 41% – Boxer 43%

The margin of error in the poll was 4.5%.

That means Fiornia is statistically tied with Boxer.

So am I (actually one point better than Fiorina).

And so is Tom Campbell.

There is literally no difference at all in how we are performing against Boxer.

The fact is Boxer has been mired in the mid-to-low 40s for more than a year.

Whether it’s her abrasive politics, her leading role in Cap and Trade, the way California Democrats have run the state into the ground, the way Washington Democrats are running the country into the ground, the “Can you call me Senator?” episode, or something else, the fact is Barbara Boxer is going to have a very difficult time winning re-election this year.

So the choice before the California primary voters isn’t who can beat Boxer…

…it’s which Republican candidate best represents your values.

* Is it Tom Campbell, the “Nelson Rockefeller Republican” who supported the largest tax increase in history at the state level, a 32-cent gas tax increase, and is liberal on social issues? * Is it Carly Fiorina, the “John McCain Republican” who claims she is a conservative but has a never with us when it counts record of support for the bailouts, for cap and trade, and for the confirmation of liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor? * Or is it me, Chuck DeVore, a “Ronald Reagan Republican” who has a proven, conservative record on taxes, on spending, on social issues, and on defense?

I believe it’s vitally important to California and America’s future that we get Barbara Boxer out of the Senate…

…but I also believe it’s just as important we replace her with a true conservative who will faithfully hold strong to the Founding Father’s vision of a limited government

My record is clear.

I have a proven voting record in the California State Assembly that has earned me several “Legislator of the Year” awards from conservative organizations.

I was a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon and I’m a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserve.

And I was against the bailouts, against cap and trade, and against the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayer. I support the Arizona immigration law. And when California Republican moderates tried to raise taxes I resigned my leadership position in protest.

My record has earned me support from conservatives like:

*** Senator Jim DeMint’s “Senate Conservative Fund” *** Governor Mike Huckabee’s “HuckPAC” *** Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) *** Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) *** Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) *** The Tea Party Express *** Citizens United PAC *** Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC *** And more than 60% of California’s Republican elected officials.

Media commentators Glenn Beck, George Will, Andrew Breitbart, and Mark Levin have all identified me as the true conservative candidate in this race.

I’m not going to lie to you, I would have liked Sarah Palin’s endorsement, too (and I look forward to getting it after I win the primary).

But the support I most need and want is yours.

If you live in California, I need your vote on June 8th.

And no matter where you live, I urgently need your immediate financial support.

Based on the Facebook and Twitter comments, it seems a lot of Sarah’s supporters weren’t very happy about her decision to support Carly.

To those of you who are looking for a strong, tried-and-true conservative who can win in November, I invite you to join my team right now.

I need your help.

Click this link right now to make a donation and help me win this primary. Any amount you can give, even if it’s just $5, will make an immediate difference.

I am the REAL conservative who can win this primary and defeat Barbara Boxer.

But I can’t do it by myself.

I need the help of conservatives like you. And I need it right now.

Join my team today and together we can put this country back on track. It only takes a minute to make a donation. But the impact could last a lifetime.

So please don’t delay. Click this link right now and help me, the “Ronald Reagan Conservative,” win the Republican primary.

All the best,

Chuck DeVore

State Assemblyman (R-CA)

Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserve

This might upset some people.

I am a rock solid conservative. But if I was elected to office. and I had a friend I could trust who was smart, loyal, had the ability, the talent and the intrest. I don’t care if they were a Republican, RINO or Democrat. I would hire them if they wanted to help out.

There are a lot of people in this world who would screw you over. One friend who disagrees with you on a few things is better than someone who may agree with you, but you can’t trust them.

Because we are also in the people business here. Mutual trust means more than political spin and 15 second sound bites.

I do believe Sarah got it wrong on this one. But then again, she did support McCain.

Hello ak267. I see you’re fairly new to FR (9/14/2008). That being the case, perhaps you are unaware we can and often do disagree with one another without calling each other idiot. It’s true, really!

If you want to be taken seriously tone it down. If you want others to look at you as the idiot you claim they are you’ll continue slinging pejoratives. It’s your call.

Have a nice evening.

Both Palin and Romney chose to support the people who have the best chance of knocking off the democrats in CA, Fiorina and Whitman. And, they were both swayed by, among other things, personal friendship and loyalty.

Palin did have a debt to McCain. I can overlook that. I won’t overlook this (FioRINO)

John McCain and Carly Fiorina asked for her endorsement

Let me give you a case and point..

Howard Cosell was so frustrated with the direction of sports broadcasting. He wrote a book. He trashed the establishment. But the problem was, he also turned on his friends because they worked for ABC. People who built him up and gave him the microphone for all those years, he turned on the people who gave him a chance. He even turned on Al Michaels.

It is a shame.

Howard Cosell then died a lonely man.

some things are more important than your political agenda. there is no perfect candidate or person.

Chuck Devore needs to read the writing on the wall, drop out and support Fiorina.

What a pity you added your unfortunate comment to the title.

Chuck DeVore has every reason to be hurt by Sarah's endorsement of Carly Fiorina, but this message today is a postive response and one that will help him immensely. Voters decide, not endorsements.

Sarah Palin waited until four weeks before the primary to endorse. Sarah selected Carly for her stated reasons and Sarah is doing what she thinks is the best way to advance policies and candidates she believes in. Sarah has earned her voice on the national stage and she commands media attention like no other.

I am solid supporter of Sarah, but that doesn't mean I applaud all of her endorsements, but I do sure do applaud her for all the work she is doing.

Update by Sarah on her Facebook page:
Update: I’d like to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information:

Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.

She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners.

She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer. That’s no RINO. That’s a winner.

If you want to find out about Carly, listen to the people who worked for her. I was one of them (I retired from HP in 2001).

Any conservative who would vote for her is a damn idiot... She’s not a conservative! She damn near destroyed HP by outsourcing jobs overseas. She also destroyed DEC and Compaq by buying them out and shutting them down. She systematically laid off the older employees, and rescinded the “HP Way”.

I was one of the lucky ones who were of retirement age, but I had a number of younger friends that were “excessed” with only months until they would have been eligible to retire.

If this is the best we can do for a candidate, we deserve to loose. Is she better than Boxer? NO. She’s the same... She’s not a conservative, nor is she a republican in the true sense.

Sybil’s endorsement of Gnarly is the equivalent of me saying that McCain is pro-border security, Romney is a lifetime member of the NRA and anti-abortion, Huckabee is pro-small government, Rudy wants only strict constructionists on the court and Fred is against global warming legislation.

All huge, preposterous, galling flip flops from their horrendous records on said subjects.

I am sad that Sarah has endorsed Carly..

I like sarah, I'm OK with her endorsing McCain. I am OK with her endorsing Fiorina. It is her decision. Maybe Carly made promises, maybe Carly has better name recognition. Whatever. I still support Sarah Palin as the best possible Presidential candidate that I can see right now, and I love the way she lathers up the libs just by being alive. But I am going to vote for Chuck DeVore, just because the primaries are the time that we can make our mark on the whole electoral process. If it comes down to Fiorina v. Boxer, I will vote Fiorina. ABB! But having DeVore would be a much better prospect.

What it looks like is that the proabortion, Tom Campbell is going to stroll into the win at this point, unless that endorsement can boost Fiorina by a few points.

It’s politics, pissant, and worse yet, it’s CA politics. The last Republican to win a US senate seat was pro-abortion Pete Wilson who won his second term in ‘88. He went on to win the CA governorship, so John Seymour finished his US senate term and since then it’s been Boxer and Feinstein.

SARAH endorsed Carly because she wants to stop Campbell and steal the seat from Boxer and SARAH THINKS Carly has the best chance.

It’s SARAH’S call and she has earned the voice to make her own endorsements. It’s that simple.
