Many Sarah Palin devotees seem shocked that Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina for Senator. They believed Sarah Palin to be representative of the Tea Partywho all endorse Chuck DeVore.
Sarah Palin is first, a Republican.
Sarah Palin has shown loyalty to John McCain and Carly Fiorina is a friend to John. Perhaps she feels its only right.
Sarah Palin speaks at Tea Party events and likes certain principles, but by her own admission she does not represent the Tea Party. In fact, she arrived late to the Tea Partyit had been growing and thriving for months before her first speech at an event. She then signed on with Tea Party Express, whom many Tea Party activists view as a Republican organization (as opposed to a grassroots organization) to speak at the anchoring events.
Was it a good political move to endorse Carly Fiorina? Not for Sarah and maybe not for Carly. This is California, after all, and Chuck DeVore has the Tea Party and serious conservative vote wrapped up. Some have speculated that this endorsement was a desperate move to shore up a failing campaign. Although, it looks like many big donors are going to move in to help Carly because they believe she has the best chance against Barbara Boxer.
Once more, I believe the establishment is wrong. First, theyre misjudging the grassroots sentiment. A Sarah Palin endorsement wont win Carly Fiorina votes. It just wont. And its condescending and tone-deaf to believe it will. Second, Carly Fiorina is not the best candidatein the primary or the general.

Update by Sarah on her Facebook page:
Update: Id like to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information:
Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty. She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners.
She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer. Thats no RINO. Thats a winner.

H/T rhema
Well, you ask a good question. So let’s see what we can see from SarahPAC, together, okay?
She gave “excessive contributions” to two RINOs, John McCain and Lisa Murkowski, such that those campaigns had to give a portion back. This was then made public and is reported, here:
http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/083009/sta_487758982.shtml
(We now know of over $10,000 she’s given to RINOs, and none to conservatives, yet...)
We know she gave $1,000 to Michele Bachmann (a true conservative), $1,000 to Marsha Blackburn (a true conservative) and $1,000 to former Congressman Rob Portman (a half-RINO/half-conservative).
http://www.adn.com/2009/10/30/993874/sarahpac-says-problems-with-political.html
So, we’ll give her $10,500 to RINOs and $2,500 to conservatives so far...
She gave $1,000 to Rep. Jean Schmidt (a conservative) and $1,000 to Ohio Auditor Mary Taylor, CPA (can’t tell, but most CPAs are conservative). Also, she gave $5,000 to Doug Hoffman (a conservative) and $2,500 to Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell (a conservative).
So the running total of named contributions is $10,500 to RINOs and $12,000 to conservatives.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/32428_Page2.html
She gave an undetermined amount to the following:
- Sens. Tom Coburn (a conservative)
- John Thune (a conservative)
- Richard Burr (a conservative)
- Orrin Hatch (a RINO)
- Chuck Grassley (a conservative)
- Lindsey Graham (a RINO)
- Jim DeMint (a conservative)
- Roy Blunt (a conservative)
So, I’ll give her a plus on a this grouping, tilting her toward conservatives to some extent.
She gave $1,000 to each of the following:
Vaughn Ward (a conservative)
Allen West (a conservative)
Adam Kinzinger (a conservative)
She gave $2,000 to Rand Paul, Jr. (you tell me what he is).
She gave $2,500 to Sean Duffy (can’t tell, but he was on MTV’s Road Rage and married a lady contestant from that show).
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2010/04/palin_spends_mo.php
So I’d put the running total at:
RINOs - $10,500
Conservatives - $15,000
Unknowns - $4,500
Others - $??
It’s not a bad record, but definitely not one into which I’d invest money targeted for conservatives.
It probably averages two-thirds of the time in favor of conservatives.
Nice analysis.
You lost me with that convoluted mess, all that was since January and involved only $9500.00?
That “convoluted mess” details ALL contributions from her PAC to others I could find, EVER.
She gives, it appears, under 3% of what she takes in, with expenses of almost half of her total income.
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/blogs/palin-watch/4899-sarahpacs-latest-disclosures
She gives slightly more monies, overall, to conservatives, followed by RINOs and Unknowns.
I hope that helps.
Y’know, I tried to be diplomatic. You respond by saying I’m “pretending,” i.e., that I am saying something I don’t believe — and then you conclude with another ipse dixit statement that DeVore “never won any support.”
I love liberals like you. In your world, we conservatives are never “allowed” to support a conservative.
Be sure to get the last word; I just won’t be reading it. Lost interest once you accused me of “pretending.” Good bye.
You have the polls right in front of you, what more can I do to show you that his campaign never took off?
You are pretending, when you try to pretend that a man that can’t win his primary, or even make a good showing in it, has anything to do with the general election.
The only polls that matter at this point is the election that we are in, do you really want to see a Tom Campbell victory in this primary, do want to avoid that result?
Well you sure did not back up your original post and I have asked you to twice.
Ansel, which part of your anatomy is your head stuck up?
Post #36 was someone else’s post. I referred to it.
Then, I went on to find every contribution SarahPAC has given and showed that to you.
You figure out the rest.
Can someone tell me, using direct quotes, what Sarah's political platform actually is? What are the specific policies she advocates, and what are the ones she decries?
If it helps, endorsements for Rand Paul Jr. and Carly were since the beginning of the year.
One of the links in my prior post shows the first quarter giving of $7,500 directly to campaigns.
$2,000 went to Mr. Paul Jr. and $2,500 went to an ex-MTV guy who married a fellow MTV girl.
The rest went to conservative or conservative-leaning candidates.
The Carly endorsement just happened and it won’t show until next quarter’s financial numbers are given.
So the majority of her PAC money since January went to Mr. Paul Jr. and an MTV couple.
Alex, when you find out, please be sure to message me the result.
You claimed it and I asked you to source it, you can't do that it seems.
This must be the reason, this is the answer to my question.
She handed $1K checks to Iraq war vet Vaughn Ward (R), who is running against Rep. Walt Minnick (D-ID); Iraq War vet Allen West (R), who faces a primary in his challenge to Rep. Ron Klein (D-FL); and ex-McLean Co. Commis./Iraq war vet Adam Kinzinger (R), the nominee against Rep. Debbie Halvorson. Palin gave $2,500 to Ashland Co. DA Sean Duffy (R), running an uphill battle against Rep. Dave Obey (D-WI), and another $2K to ophthalmologist Rand Paul (R), the reports show. Meanwhile, she also gave $1K each to 2 PACs that support veterans running for Congress.
You sound like a Trey Grayson guy judging by the way that you keep working his opponent into things, is that a pro-choice view leaking out?
By the way, Palin has given money to DeMint, and DeMint has endorsed Rand Paul.
Paul leads Grayson among pro-lifers by a 50%-32% margin. Grayson leads Paul among pro-abortion Republicans by a 42%-27% margin.
Conservatives, Christians, social conservatives, and the statewide Kentucky voting population support Rand Paul.
Conservatives favor Paul by 51 percent to 29 percent with 16 percent undecided. Those who attend religious services regularly or occasionally favor Paul by double-digit margins. Gun owners back Paul 48 percent to 22 percent with 22 percent undecided.
Rand Paul leads by double digits among men and women, among conservatives, pro-life voters, gun owners.
Grayson leads today only among the 1 in 5 Republican primary voters who say they are pro-choice.
As I said in post #91 (which I posted as you were probably also looking up stuff), $4,500 of the $7,500 she gave directly to campaigns were to Mr. Rand Paul Jr. and and MTV couple from “Road Rage.”
The remaining $3,000 went to conservatives. So the definitely majority of her direct campaign giving is not conservative, at least since the beginning of the year.
And that doesn’t even include Carly, that lady who now hates Arizona.
Mrs Palin has indeed enraged me by some of her actions. Yet, I realize she certainly doesn't stay up at night worrying how her decisions might affect jla. For I am merely one out of 70 million voters she will need, at the least, if she runs in '12. If endorsing a few 'not-so-conservative' Republicans along the way is the worst thing she does I can sincerely state that she has my vote locked.
Besides, in all categories, she is head and shoulders above any other potential candidates.
Viva La Palin!
I really don’t care if Rand wins or not, but I do know of controversy over his pro-life position:
If Sarah Palin is the wonder woman conservatives everyone is making her out to be, why did she give one stinking dime to ANY Rhino? (Of course, I asked myself that same question when she accepted the offer to be on a ticket with McShamnesty) We do NOT need the same old same old. Again, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, take HER word for it, it’s a duck. I just think that the longer she’s kept in the mix, like Thompson was, the likelier we are to get another McCain. Just my opinion, but that’s how I see it. Frankly, from what I’ve seen, I like Sarah as a person, wife, mother...I just don’t agree with her politically.
Last week Dr. James Dobson angrily retracted his pro-life endorsement of Trey Grayson, saying that he had been deliberately misled about Rand, and as with Jim DeMint, endorsed Rand Paul.
Grayson leads today only among the 1 in 5 Republican primary voters who say they are pro-choice."
