I’m no expert on UK politics and I don’t like Cameron has gone The Full Obama. Using the Hope poster and hiring Obama’s advisors and pr people. His global warming views and some others aren’t the best. But he’s better than Brown. And any conservative win will be a good thing for the GOP and conservatives here I think. Thatcher’s win in 79 presaged Reagan in 80. And Cameron, Sarkozy and Merkel will be a trio of right leaning leaders in Europe which should be a good counterweight to Obama. Throw in Harper in Canada and Netanyahu in Israel and Obama is now the furthest left leader among our allies.

We’ll see what happens. Labor had 13 yrs, more than enough time.

Careful. The City of London or as they call it ‘The City’ is actually just a small part of London and along with Westminster forms a constituency. The Conservatives have held on to this. The City of London is the heart of London’s financial district.

Nooooo, I far prefer the poll by poll bit by by results we get in the US - it’s like a sporting event. You watch 470 or so elections some are blow outs, some are real close and you just hang at the edge of your seat one each one.

Like did you watch the NY23 election last November? Can you imagine just waiting for 8 hours for the announcement of a result? Or several hours of back and forth? Give me the several hours of back and forth.

Maybe. Right now I see 49.3% Conservative, awaiting more updates.

The mayor of London is a Conservative.

true, but we wouldn’t have to wait 8 hrs here. all our voting is computerized. we’d get the results much, much faster.

it’s not really a big deal, i just think it does add a touch of sportsmanship to things. like how they shake hands at the end of an nhl playoff series.

With 49%, I think they're on course for 330-335. A small majority.

Yes, that would be preferable.

But Labour has allowed a decade of unlimited immigration

The sun is setting on Western Civilization. Its time has passed. What its heir, and whither...?

It looks like they may fall a few seats short. Sitetest’s prediction of 320 may be a shrewd guess. I’d say now it likely ends up in the 315-325 range. With luck a bare majority of 326 or 327 perhaps.

Good night.

Was ousted by Boris Johnson, a Conservative MP. He's now the Mayor of London.
