While welfare dependence is a bigger problem in Scotland and Wales than it is in the UK, the Tories are associated with the (English) Aristocracy and Unionism in general. The only two parties that matter in Scotland are Labour and the SNP (Lib Dems haven’t apparently made as many inroads as they had hoped). Ditto the Welshies with Labour and Plan Cymru.

Tough to tell right now. Tories just picked up Aberconwy in Wales, but they suck in Scotland right now. They’re probably still on track at least to get over 300.

Lots of Scotland seats reporting right now, which accounts for the high Labour numbers.

Should read, “While welfare dependence is a bigger problem in Scotland and Wales than it is in ENGLAND”

All this talk of voters being turned away because of long lines or lack of ballots is bad. If I couldn’t vote I’d be furious. So how soon before the left and the media start comparing this to Republicans stealing FL in 2000, or OH in 2004?!

Its a constituency by constituency count. The UK has a lot of local elections like for the US House Of Representatives. In short, whatever party wins the most seats is called on to form the government.

Vale of Glamorgan was one the Tories needed in Wales and they got it.
