"There is a lot of information on the web about Trisomy 18 and it is not for the faint of heart. " Indeed. I spent as long on the subject on Google Images as I could handle.
Those little ones deserve to know only a world full of love -- however long they are here...
Gotta go hug my granddaughters for therapy...

I’m not normally that squeamish, but a couple minutes of not very close up pictures was all I could handle. I couldn’t last long either.
Too often I fail to realize how blessed I am and give thanks for it.

You know, articles like this upset me, because I know so many medical professionals.
There are miracle outcomes. Doctors pray for them.
They are also charged with conveying their knowledge, science, probably outcomes and experience.
Then, when a blessed outcome occurs, they are portrayed as somehow HOPING for the worst, when they are merely warning of what is reasonable to expect.
Give them a break. They are not priests or prophets. They only know what almost always happens.

Compelling story. Thanks for posting. I just love Rick Santorum and I wish that he were still in the Senate leading our country.

I know many of Italian decent :-)....
Many call Isabella, Izzy for short, or "Bella" which means beauty....
Rick and all the Santorums, see the "Beauty" in "Izzy".
Pretty amazing guy and family, a lesson for us all....

I certainly agree with what you are saying but negativity can become a bit of a disease itself in the medical profession and with some (not all) professionals the negativity can undermine the will to try or to offer any hope!

What a wonderful story. I didn’t know the Santorums had had another child. God bless them all.

Most burdens to society ARE healthy children. Or healthy adults. I think we'd all be better off if we through out the concept of "society" and thought of people, sick or well, as participants in their own families and the communities of people who know them.

I spent quite a bit of time at CHOP myself as a young boy, due to a certain neurological affliction I was born with (and still have as it's incurable at the moment).
The entire staff there is indeed wonderful. God bless the Santorum family for sharing this story.
