The District is 15 and the candidate is Phil Shepard. He will definitely be the next representative because he has no democrat opposition in November. There was a third candidate who split the vote with Martin Aragona, a former county commissioner. She is a retired Navy Lt. Commander from Sneads Ferry. Louis Swell, his son Billy Sewell (both of Golden Corral fame), and John Pierce are the backers I was speaking of. All three of them raised and/or donated thousands of dollars to Mike Easley, Bev Perdue, and other democrat candidates. My husband (who knows both Louis Sewell and John Pierce very well) says they were not so much FOR Phil Shepard as they are AGAINST Martin Aragona. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

That’s unfortunate and I wish I had paid more attention to these state leg. primaries. If we take it this November then we’ll have to keep an eye on these RINOs so that they don’t screw us on redistricting.
