We don’t even really know that this guy did anything. They could have just made this up to lull the real perps into a false sense of security. Maybe this guy is working with the feds or something. Who knows? I don’t know why they’d announce a name this early. Now, all the people in Pakistan or Yemen or wherever know and they can all go to ground, destroy any links, etc...
