White House drops Christian dating for Jewish proclamation

The White House, in the midst of an intense charm offensive aimed at the Jewish and pro-Israel communities, has dropped an archaic phrase that has, in the past, rankled Jewish groups.

The use of the proclamation boilerplate "in the year of our Lord" for a celebration of Jewish Heritage Month had struck a slightly off-key note for Jewish groups in Obama's last proclamation, as in those of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

So Obama thinks that dropping “in the year of our Lord” is going to make up for his substantive obnoxious snubs? He is offending both Christians and Jews with this blatant pandering. How disgusting.

Personally I think Jewish people would be better served by this administration dropping their invitation to a second holocaust than they are by it's dropping of the Anno Domini phrase.

Ideally, one would go back to “AM” -— Anno Mundi (year of the world), which dates back to the traditional year of Creation.

Rather nuetral, and yet nicely Biblical.

The Orthodox Christians used it until very recently (and still do). And, of course, Jewish people inside Israel use it.

But, yeah, I could care less what they use.

Substance over style, any day.
