SNIPPET: “Alleged Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad made his first court appearance Tuesday evening since his arrest on May 3. While federal prosecutors used the opportunity to confirm some earlier reports regarding the investigation, new details continue to emerge about the failed terrorist attack.
During the 10-minute hearing at the federal courthouse in Manhattan, prosecutors confirmed what has already been widely reported. Shahzad waived his right to a speedy court appearance and to an attorney, and explained that he has been cooperating with law enforcement officials”

SNIPPET: “Khan easily obtained the cabbie license and regularly drove around one of the nations busiest airports with few restrictions. In fact the Boston Police Hackney Division approved Khan’s license to drive a taxi 13 times since he first applied in 1997.
Theres more alarming information about Khan that was disregarded by Boston authorities. As a gas-station employee he somehow had enough cash to buy $190,000 worth of shares in Boston taxi medallions, according to one news report, that points out no red flags were raised. Khan doubled his money just a few years later when he sold the shares, but no one bothered to look into the matter.”

SNIPPET: “The Boston Police Hackney Division approved Khan’s license to drive a taxi 13 times since he first applied in 1997. The paperwork reveals that Khan also worked at a pizza shop, in construction and drove a Cambridge taxi.
Khan also says he worked for the same Brookline gas station owner as his roommate, who was also detained.
Pir Khan indicates that he came to the United States from Pakistan in 1991 and said that he had never committed a crime. His record as a cab driver in Boston was clean.”
