Glenn Beck's Ratings Collapse
Gillian Reagan
Apr. 29, 2010, 4:15 PM
Is Glenn losing his edge? Maybe not.
Fox News' Glenn Beck might be a one-man $32 million media empire (books, radio shows, tours and more!) but what's going on with his marquee Fox News show?
The Los Angeles Times' Joe Flint reports that News Corp.-owned Fox News cable news ratings are still high above the competition. But Glenn Beck's total number of viewers are down by almost 30%, from 2.9 million in January to 2.1 million in April.
Glenn might not be the rising ratings juggernaut month to month, like he has always been. But he's still a powerhouse in the 5 p.m. timeslot. As Joe writes, "the decline in his audience has hardly made a dent on the lead he enjoys for his 5 p.m. festival of emotions. His rivals should hold off a little on popping the Champagne."

Here's how the other cable news personalities are doing, year over year, in April:
April 09- April 2010 in the 25-54 demo:
* Fox News' Bill OReilly down 3%
* MSNCB's Rachel Maddow down 8%
* Fox News' Greta Van Sustren down 13%
* Fox News' Sean Hannity down 17%
* MSNBC's Chris Matthews down 23%
* MSNBC's Headline News down 26%
* MSNBC's Keith Olbermann down 28%
* CNN's Wolf Blitzer down 37%
* CNN's Campbell Brown down 39%
* CNN's Anderson Cooper down 41%
* CNN's Larry King down 46%

I’m a Beck fan from way back. However I have turned him off as he gets more preachy on spiritual matters. I’m not a Mormon and I with courtesy send the ones at my door off after pointing how they are wrong. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with Mormons or anyone else who will help me defend my country. Glen needs to stick to our common interest and not try to build common spiritual bridges which don’t exist.
Personally I can only listen to a couple people a day. Maybe I catch a clip of Beck on a particular subject once in awhile.
Three words - ‘Faith’, ‘Hope’ and ‘Charity’. He changed his focus from objective facts to his subjective beliefs - which, pointing to the ‘no solutions’ comment above, IS his solution. Small gov’t types who aren’t religious or As religious are bailing daily. Too bad. He educated a lot who didn’t know the whole story like many of us who have known for decades.
The commercial-free playback of Rush’s three hours takes 1 hr 54 Minutes. So that is 20 minutes of commercial per hour.
Nothing sissy about this, and no tears:

I sincerely request that you watch the two Beck videos at that link, both from this week. You may have to watch twice. It’s hard to grasp what is happening to us, but you need to know.
Beck is simply the only one explaining in plain everyday language what Obama and his people are doing.
Please watch?
I need a break from unprecedented crisis. Rush makes me feel upbeat!
Beck is frustrating to watch. It’s all depressing and he never offers any course of action. Viewers nightly receive the same information 1) It’s bad 2)we have to fix it 3)we must remain non-violent 4) no politicians can be trusted
I think the hokey lawsuits were misguided. Never had a chance constitutionally. The new state election laws for his birth Certificate is a much better approach because it is legal.
Hey, he lost over a dozen sponsors for calling Obama a racist. That should get him something.
Beck is on the job. I think he is working really hard to expose the criminal left and doing a great job. He’s a brave man.
Well, I think basically that is almost impossible. The Left's relentless destruction to our way of life does not pause, so we must not either. I do appreciate Rush's humor however, always helps.
We’re all exhausted. Obama’s audacious steamrolling is doing what he intended. He is trying to overwhelm and outlast us.
In normal imes befoe the world was upside down, such a bloodless coup would not have been possible because the media would watchdog it and blow the whistle.
Obama gets away with EVERYTHING—from stupid, inane remarks like ‘57 states’, his ‘shout out to Cheif whatchacallit” during the announcement of the Ft Hood bloodbath, calling the police “stupid, bowing to dictators to straight up marxist policy rammed down our throats thug style in secret.
The media are the scum of the earth, they are responsible for what has happened.
And to think Dan Quayle was ruined over mispelling “potato”.
Great post in #26, Jedidah... I tend to agree with you.
Rush is the best! I totally agree! Love that man!
He’s horrible. No content. Just crap. His radio show is even worse. Constant laughing and chattering with his producer.
Made the mistake of watching Beck twice, once when he had Sarah Palin on for the hour, and then the infamous Eric Massa debacle. Beck is a horrible interviewer, almost incoherent in the way he tries to put a story together, and his approach to an issue just seems to be a bunch of random stuff interspersed with heartfelt pleadings.
I think he’s a great conservative, has true passion for what he does, but just isn’t very good at it, at least on TV.
Rush energizes. Beck doesn’t.
Love all these people trashing Beck. He is performing a great service for his country, and making some honest coin doing it. I don’t get what’s wrong with that.
“Beck is just depressing.”
If what’s going on in Washington doesn’t make you depressed you are mentally ill!
