Sarah Palin pens ode to Glenn Beck
Politico ^ | 4-29-10 | Andy Barr

Posted on 04/29/2010 9:11:06 AM PDT by STARWISE

Sarah Palin has warmly expressed her fondness for Fox News's Glenn Beck as an “inspiring patriot” and someone to “admire.”

Both Palin and Beck were named Thursday to Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people, and the former vice presidential nominee — and Fox News colleague — wrote a glowing introduction for the magazine on the controversial host.

“Who’d have thought a history buff with a quirky sense of humor and a chalkboard could make for such riveting television?” Palin wrote. “Glenn’s like the high school government teacher so many wish they'd had, charting and connecting ideas with chalk-dusted fingers — kicking it old school — instead of becoming just another talking-heads show host.”

Beck and Palin are the king and queen for much of the tea party movement, and the two have made a habit of publicly touting each other.

Soon after Palin signed her contract with Fox, Beck sat down with the former governor for a glowing full hour on his show. In turn, Palin has talked up Beck in posts on her Facebook page and in speeches to conservative groups.

In her piece for Time, Palin depicts Beck as a sort of crusader who dares to go against the norms established by the mainstream media.

“Glenn, 46, tackles topics other news shows would regard as arcane,” Palin wrote.

“Consider his desire to teach Americans about the history of the progressive movement: he's doing to progressive what Ronald Reagan did to liberal — explaining that it's a damaged brand.”

“His love of the Founding Fathers inspires others to learn and respect our nation's history,” she continued. “Best of all, Glenn delights in driving the self-proclaimed powers-that-be crazy.”

Palin applauded Beck’s high ratings in her tribute to the Fox personality.

“Even his critics (whom he annihilates in ratings) have to admire his amazing ability to galvanize everyday Americans to better themselves and peacefully engage their government,” she wrote. “Though he sometimes dismisses himself as an aw-shucks guy or just a ‘rodeo clown,’ he's really an inspiring patriot who was once at the bottom but now makes a much needed difference from the very, very top.”

Sarah is a breath of fresh air. She would make a GREAT president even though the left would try and make her life a living Hell. Oh, wait, they are trying that now and it’s not working. Sarah is still out there connecting with her common sense and her intelligent charm. She drive the leftist nuts! Ain’t it great?

Two years ago, I started praying that God would send us a LEADER. She arrived just in the nick of time. And GB is her very able sidekick. I thank God for them both.

Sarah Palin BY Ted Nugent

If Sarah Palin played a loud, grinding instrument, she would be in my band. The independent patriotic spirit, attitude and soul of our forefathers are alive and well in Sarah. In the way she lives, what she says and how she dedicates herself to make America better in these interesting times, she represents the good, while exposing the bad and ugly. She embraces the critical duty of we the people by participating in this glorious experiment in self-government. The tsunami of support proves that Sarah, 46, represents what many Americans know to be common and sensible. Her rugged individualism, self-reliance and a herculean work ethic resonate now more than ever in a country spinning away from these basics that made the U.S.A. the last best place. We who are driven to be assets to our families, communities and our beloved country connect with the principles that Sarah Palin embodies. We know that bureaucrats and, even more, Fedzilla, are not the solution; they are the problem. I'd be proud to share a moose-barbecue campfire with the Palin family anytime, so long as I can shoot the moose.

When was the last time a losing vice presidential candidate was considered influential a year and a half after the election? Were prople hanging on Henry Cabot Lodge's words in 1962? William Miller rallies in 1966? Muskie Mobs in 1970? Sargent Shriver speeches in 1974? Dole lost in 1976, but I doubt crowds were entusiastically following him in 1978 Heck, how many were feeling Palinesque loyalty even when he ran for president? Any Ferraro fanaticism in 1986? Even the crowds chasing after John Edwards in 2006 were mostly girlfriends and private investigators.

Sarah Palin is to Obama what a sharp stake is to Count Dracula.

She is Obama’s worst nightmare and will whip his scrawny butt in 2012.

Not bad! Interesting that Ted Nugent was selected to write the piece on her.

This is why I've never bought into the Mark Levin "Beck is copying me" line, Beck is all about history and educating American's about the history that has been removed from our books... there is room enough for both as they both bring something different to the conversation -- just as Rush does.

I don’t even recall what the feud entailed, but my gripe with Glenn Beck had to do with his “both parties are the same” and his penchant for a third party, which he seems to have dropped. He has a Libertarian bent to him that I don’t share, but he doesn’t hide it either. He’s my husband’s favorite, so I’ve watched almost all of his programs and of late, I think his hour is the best on television. Others, like O’Reilly, waste their time and ours, while Glenn is using his to inform and educate. Sarah wrote a wonderful commentary on him that is sure to please him.

Someone at Politico should be kind enough to instruct Andy Barr as to the difference between an ode and a missive or essay.
