“take action against Israel”...er, what’s that supposed to mean? We have never had the US threatening to “take action” against Israel, which is the non-aggressor and has always acted within its legal rights and in support of the US.

Well in 1956 the definitely were not acting with America's support or in America's interests. But they had France and Britain backing their action at that time. The US didn't become a close Allie of Israel until after the 1967 war.
