A year ago, when Barack Obama needed some bipartisan cover for the Porkulus package that got written without any Republican input, he headed down to Florida and got Charlie Crist to appear on stage to give him a boost. Now, Charlie Crist wants to dump the GOP and run as an independent, with an announcement expected later today, and he needs a big boost to get taken seriously by Sunshine State voters. According to Marc Ambinder, Crist tried calling his friends in the Obama White House who refused to take his call:
Here first: Charlie Crist, soon to be independent Senate candidate from Florida, tried to reach White House chief of staff Emanuel through intermediates. WH refuses to take the call. Dems plan big talent/money blitz for Kendrick Meek. BTW: Obamas approval rating in FL is in high 40s, per internal Dem polling.

Ping
sucker!
Snicker!!
Sorry Charlie, but you have to go. Bye-bye.
Yep, yet another politician who is in for the job title, and the people be damned!
When Christ loses, Obama will appoint him Tanning Booth Tax Collection Czar.
When you trophy, rich wife is your consultant you will dumb things but this is one of the dumbest to day. Crist being too dumb to know Obama and the staff at the White House wouldn’t support his bid makes him way too dumb to be a Senator.
Not shocked at his wife would suggest this since she comes from the NJ/NY area where her ex-husband lives with their two teenage daughters after she shipped them back when her and Crist got married. Figure she is a liberal democrat and his hug of Obama and support for the stimulus is something she would have approved.
Charlie should have stayed single!
As if the maoists are going to dump a black dem candidate for Crist.
Crist is dumber than he appears in the rear view mirror.
If Sun Tan Charlie were smart, and I am not saying that he is smart, he would announce today that he is pulling out of the race and will to teach or hold some other job to bide his time for 2012 and stay a Republican.
I do not think that his spectacular ego will allow him to do this, but this would be the smart move for now and the future.
