Tancredo Says Arizona Law Goes Too Far Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), who crusaded for tough anti-immigration measures while in Congress, told KDVR-TV that while he supported the new immigration law in Arizona he thought it went too far.
Said Tancredo: "I do not want people here, there in Arizona, pulled over because you look like should be pulled over."

So it will be up to the cops to determine what constitutes reasonable suspicion/probable cause. How is this different from any other day, year or century in America?

I saw Tancredo in a bar last night cuddling up to this woman:
Don't tell his wife.

I wasn't quoting the law. I was talking about why local law enforcement won't be turning into 24/7 ICE units as many opponents of this law claim. The cops don't have the resources. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has said several times in the last few days that the new law would mostly be enforced after subjects were arrested or detained for other infractions and were then determined to be illegal aliens.

I suspect that Tancredo has been taken out of context. This is entirely inconsistent with his stated position.
I agree

If they weren’t here in the first place, they wouldn’t be witnesses or victims of US crime and the police could go on to solve the crime with legal witnesses (or perhaps the perps wouldn’t be here either?)
This will help drive them out of AZ. That is a “good thing”.
Two birds killed with one proverbial stone.

Tanc isn’t turning RINO, he has become a libertarian
who doesn’t go along with national security.
Tancredo has associated himself with Ron Paul loon, Chuck Baldwin and anti war 9/11 Truther.

CONTEXT GOES A LONG WAY!!!!
Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find one that wasn't just a repeat of the same few words, without context.

Thank you onyx.
Some Freepers are huge knee-jerkers. They read the spin of the article and freak out. Haven’t we learned it’s all about context?

“
But he questions how police can stop people for any reason. “I do not want people here, there in Arizona, pulled over because you look like should be pulled over,” says Tancredo.”
Tom shot his mouth off without thinking. This is a stupid “blanket” statement, and he should have known better. Does Tancredo think those who drafted this law didn’t consult with a constitutional lawyer? Or several?
Does Tancredo think there is anything in this bill that even remotely says” you can pull over anyone at whim” ?

You’re welcome. I’m no fan of Tancredo’s but I hate it whenever anyone is taken out of context.
