Liberals are all too often eager to charge conservative personalities of using hyperbole to gain a political advantage, especially when it contradicts their world view - whether it's suggesting the Obama administration is taking the country down the path of socialism, fascism or any other -ism.
However, it could be argued there's a different set of standards for those same people when they want to make strong charges. On NBC's April 18 "The Chris Matthews Show," Time columnist Joe Klein all but accused former GOP vice-presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, along with Fox News host Glenn Beck of sedition.
"I did a little bit of research just before this show - it's on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."

incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority
Ok, first, prove beyond reasonable doubt that obama is "lawful" authority. Where is the birth certificate? Where are the records of his youth, college, etc.? Why does he continue to fight to keep his past private? We're waiting.
Then consider this. obama, Pelosi, and Reid's actions in ramming through "healthcare reform" are borderline un-Constitutional. If they are not acting in accordance with the Constitution, then they are no-longer "lawful authority" and it would become Patriotism. The moment they do something un-Constitutional, they are out. Tread very, very carefully here obama/Reid/Pelosi. We are ready.
Finally, what Beck/Palin, talk-radio, etc. are promoting is not an insurrection. They are advancing a political viewpoint, and attempting to win converts and energize their backers - to vote. These are all protected rights, any attempt to take them away would lead to something beyond sedition. Many of us have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America, against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
I’ll tell you who’s seditious. The vile left-wing creeps who support every enemy of the United States, and have been constantly tearing the country down for the last forty-five years. They have been wrecking this society by every means that falls to their hands. Joe Klein is just a Democratic flunkie.
Why is this little bum allowed to make baseless accusations like this? He’s no more than a little Democratic stooge.
Go write an anonymous roman à clef, about that, Klein.
These people are risible.
Indeed, they want to get the party started, BRING IT!!
And most importantly, ad pages.
Cue Hillary ..I AM SICK AND TIRED
I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration somehow youre not patriotic
and we should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with ANY administration!!!!
Whatre you going to do about it, Klein? Talk is cheap! Theres tens of millions of us (minimum) thatd raise up as one to defend Governor Palin and Mr. Beck if you try something!!
Have you no sense of decency. Have you no shame, Klein.
Did ya notice how upset 0d0rk0 got when his crotch bomber didn't go as planned? No shout outs to hiz homies at funeral events! Satanallah didn't bring him anything for Christmas.
Is it still a false flag when you are actually on the other side?
That was my first thought about Klein's comments. Our elected officials are entrusted by the People to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution while they hold office. I would say they are trying to undermine, ignore, and assault it instead.
I believe that that is how the country was founded
>>”Theyll need an awfully big jail because there are millions of us who agree with Beck and Palin.”<<
>>”Dont worry, theyve got one...”<<
Let’s see them get us to those jails:

I’m guilty, too. My last reply to you on another thread pretty much cinched it. Tell ‘em to come arrest me at their earliest convenience.
As we see here, nothing gets a liberal hotter than the idea of using the power of the state to crush those who think other than they do. Matthews and Klein have been carrying grudges since childhood, I am guessing, and love the idea that "Their side" can turn the tables on the evil modern incarnation of the McCarthyites (like Robert Kennedy?). Look how often Olberman and his sort fantasize about "frog walking" people.
These are powerless people who survive on power fantasies, who talk peace and love but are filled with hate for people who have the audacity to not only believe differently, but worse to not even give a damn for what they think.
Klein wants attention, so he says "controversial" things, which he brings to his masters like a puppy carrying an old shoe and dropping at his owner's feet. What a pathetic,, approval-seeking bunch of worms.
Sorry your books got dumped and the cheerleaders wouldn't go out with you, little boys, but it's too late, the majority don't care what you think, no matter how disgusting in terms of the free exchange of ideas.
A couple weeks ago a poll was published about "right-wing groups." Coincidentally, days later "right-wing militia" groups were arrested. Now, Clinton, Klein and democrat politicians are talking about incitement to violence, and how the "far right" needs to be careful.
They don't seem to realize it's too late. Even those who wouldn't go to a tea party protest don't think there's anything wrong with protesting the wholesale destruction of the foundations of a country we may not always agree with, but which we don't want to see become another failed socialist state. And no amount of threats from wimpy journalists will change that.
“I did a little bit of research just before this show - it’s on this little napkin here.”
There’s just nothing quite like an idiot doing a “little bit of research.” They aren’t aiming just for the 2nd Amendment, they really have problems with the 1st. Meanwhile, I’m going to do a little research, to see if I can track down this “Time” thing for which Klein works. There used to be a magazine by that name, but I think it went out of business.
