Beer and good food are definitely appreciated! Don't know about "raki" but I know where the Turkish sector is (there are some Persian establishments I might look at too). Spent some time with a Turkish colleague during the conference - fun guy.

Thanks!!

That is cool, it is like a mini foreign trip that is fun and adventurous, and then you go back to the hotel.

Turks are a blast.

Europe needs a high capacity, volcano tolerant, airborne people and cargo mover. At least one such design exists:

Spruce Goose

No. No hint of it at all. Clear blue skies.

Over here in Stockholm, blue skies. I haven't seen anything the entire time.

Same here (Austria). Airspace closed and at least yesterday
(because it rains right now) nothing but blue sky.

My story: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2494820/posts?page=19#19

In the RAF Club i London.

Originally a 2.5 day quick trip, packed nothing but an extra shirt and socks.

The UK is a mess, with trains all booked so no way to leave the island, rental cars all booked, too. I checked cruise ships and freighters and container ships ad they are all booked.

Thursday is my booked flight back, a full week after I expected to fly back. . .and I am not sure this will happen.

I had an interesting meal in Frankfurt, right near the marketplace, in a Chinese restaurant. This was years ago, so who knows if it still is there. I felt like I was dining in an opium den, the decor was kind of decadent, sumptuous and bordello like. There was a kind of Madame who tended to our group’s table (there were about 10 or 12 of us) and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this establishment was run by the Chinese mafia. Gave me the creeps in some ways, but the food and service was good.

At least you aren't in Munich, with all the yummy southern Bavarian food (Bratwurst and SaueresLungerl) and Weizen by the keg, all very modestly priced at the HofBrauHaus. Not to mention the Deutsches Museum and too many other points of interest to list. You may not want to leave!

Take Care and have some fun!

OMG. Awful. Guess I will continue to avoid Virgin. At least with Delta, as a platinum, I get excellent service.

I usually fly America (Business Class and Executive Platinum), but a company over here is recruiting me and bought the ticket. I will never fly Virgin because of the way they are handling this mess.

Oh, if only I were. The one time I was there I had too little time to see much of anything. But I did eat in the Ratskellar and the HofBrauHaus.

But the Sachsenhausen district here looks like it has much potential, though last night it was LOUD. Will have to try some Ebbelwei.

And with that, I'm out for the day.
