Dear President Obama:

I write today as a proud American and a proud Jew.

Jews around the world are concerned today. We are concerned about the nuclear ambitions of an Iranian regime that brags about its genocidal intentions against Israel. We are concerned that the Jewish state is being isolated and delegitimized.

Mr. President, we are concerned about the dramatic deterioration of diplomatic relations between the United States and Israel.

The Israeli housing bureaucracy made a poorly timed announcement and your Administration branded it an “insult.” This diplomatic faux pas was over the fourth stage of a seven stage planning permission process – a plan to build homes years from now in a Jewish area of Jerusalem that under any peace agreement would remain an integral part of Israel.

Our concern grows to alarm as we consider some disturbing questions. Why does the thrust of this Administration’s Middle East rhetoric seem to blame Israel for the lack of movement on peace talks? After all, it is the Palestinians, not Israel, who refuse to negotiate.

Israel has made unprecedented concessions. It has enacted the most far reaching West Bank settlement moratorium in Israeli history.

Israel has publicly declared support for a two-state solution. Conversely, many Palestinians continue their refusal to even acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.

The conflict’s root cause has always been the Palestinian refusal to accept Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people. Every American President who has tried to broker a peace agreement has collided with that Palestinian intransigence, sooner or later. Recall President Clinton’s anguish when his peace proposals were bluntly rejected by the Palestinians in 2000. Settlements were not the key issue then.

They are not the key issue now.

Another important question is this: what is the Administration’s position on Israel’s borders in any final status agreement? Ambiguity on this matter has provoked a wave of rumors and anxiety. Can it be true that America is no longer committed to a final status agreement that provides defensible borders for Israel? Is a new course being charted that would leave Israel with the indefensible borders that invited invasion prior to 1967?

There are significant moves from the Palestinian side to use those indefensible borders as the basis for a future unilateral declaration of independence. How would the United States respond to such a reckless course of action?

And what are America’s strategic ambitions in the broader Middle East? The Administration’s desire to improve relations with the Muslim world is well known. But is friction with Israel part of this new strategy? Is it assumed worsening relations with Israel can improve relations with Muslims? History is clear on the matter: appeasement does not work. It can achieve the opposite of what is intended.

And what about the most dangerous player in the region? Shouldn’t the United States remain focused on the single biggest threat that confronts the world today? That threat is a nuclear armed Iran. Israel is not only America’s closest ally in the Middle East, it is the one most committed to this Administration’s declared aim of ensuring Iran does not get nuclear weapons.

Mr. President, we embrace your sincerity in your quest to seek a lasting peace. But we urge you to take into consideration the concerns expressed above. Our great country and the tiny State of Israel have long shared the core values of freedom and democracy. It is a bond much treasured by the Jewish people. In that spirit I submit, most respectfully, that it is time to end our public feud with Israel and to confront the real challenges that we face together.

Guess I will just trust that G-D has his hand on Israel and I pray that He will soften the hearts of those who refuse to see the truth. While most Americans support Israel, I pray that this government wakes up and supports its only friend in the middle east! I fear that Obama is too filled with hate to see the mistake he is making trying to force his views on Israel. 2012 can not come quickly enough for me!

You and dennisw, know for certain that I hate the ongoing “blame the American Jewish vote” for everything, when in fact, only pockets of their vote impact congressional districts, just like the black vote keeps Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee and others of their ilk in office.

Mr. Lauder is a long time Jewish Republican and a very important voice. His letter should be praised.

Members here should take note that all of our Jewish FRiends are good conservatives and that they find the likes of Schumer as repugnant as I find the likes of Catholic senator Leahy repugnant.

Jews may stay Democrat but no way will 0bama get their vote again. Jews have always been accused of dual loyalty to Israel and America. That lie was put to rest when Jews voted 80% for Obama. But that won’t be happening again.

The “court Jews” surrounding Obama disgust me but every administration has Jews that serve them and they get more attention than others.

I am heartened to hear that! Along with praying for Bibi and Israel, I pray for all Americans to see Obama as he really is, particulary Jewish Americans.

I know that the "court Jews" (as you put it) get a lot of attention, but I was also heartened with the so-called "Jewish delegation from NY" spoke out against Obama's unconscionable treatment of Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu.

White people elected 0bama.

0bama lost the White vote 55-45. Everybody else made up the difference. But the Whites who did vote for 0bama were the dumbest of the lot because they were voting against their own interest out of self-loathing.

But I have to say, some of the stupidest stuff I've read on Free Republic has been in this thread.

But in a time when there was no modern media...

That was in reference to the 1940s, when "The Greatest Generation" kept re-electing FDR. So many parents of Jewish baby-boomers were FDR Dems, and they raised their kids accordingly. They had an excuse- did many of them even realize he was wheelchair bound? Not at the time, as their radios didnt convey that. And there were less MSM outlets from which to obtain news- they showed newsreels of WWII in the movie theaters.

But in our current era- "the information age" there are less excuses to be ill-informed. I am angry with my Jewish friends and relatives who voted for the Obamanation, and they are sick of getting my emailed articles pointing out how wrong they were about him.

I suppose the difference between someone like myself and someone who uses every opportunity to point out the dumb voting patterns of Jews, is that I am angry with them for "acting stupidly"; whereas some others dislike them because they are Jews (who happened to vote stupidly.)

We can see the distinction. As a friend of mine used to say (a black, female friend who overcame her own trials and challenges), even a dog knows the difference between being tripped over and being kicked.

I agree but I also believe that these types of letters are a waste of paper when sent to Obama. He’s a demon possessed hard core idiologue and a jew hater. He’s a Muslim, clearly, and these polite beseeching letters will be thrown in file 13. Sorry, but it’s true. Obama could care less. He wants the destruction of Isreal and the United States. He is simply FRAUDULENTLY USING the United States as his host to be the pathetic leech and self absorbed insane tyrant that he is. He’s a legend in his own mind but God will see to it that his end is swift and severe. Count on it. CO

I can speak for myself and the overwhelming number of members of FR here. We OVERWHELMINGLY support the State of Israel! She is our only true friend in the Middle East. What confuses me and countless other here is why in the hell do the majority of American Jews support politicians who refuse to support Israel?
