Thanks to BykrBayb for a tip on using < instead of showing < with a space that needed to be removed and the blockquote command...
I think he enjoys enraging his critics, so he keeps this up. Maybe he’s hoping someone will go over the edge and take an unsuccessful pot shot at him, giving him a free bump up in the polls.
To add to NULL AND VOID’s excellent information....
HTML is just a program language that can be used in an environment where it is mixed with text and graphics.
The LEFT CARET and RIGHT CARET are used to distinguish commands/operands from ordinary text.
The ‘animated’ picture you are concerned about is a GIF file.
It doesn’t really matter as GIF files are just pictures, to the computer, and so they are done exactly the same way that any other picture is posted on a thread.
FAQ’S:
Why don’t you have to use HTML commands normally?
Because simple features, such as paragraphs, and hyperlinks are automatically inferred.
Because if you use any HTML commands in your post, the automatic feature is disabled. You must supply the ‘paragraph break’ command, for instance.
How do I get the ‘url’ to put into the <img src..... command?
The easiest way is to find the picture (or animated GIF) you want. It must be located on the network somewhere and not just your computer. Do a RIGHT CLICK, select COPY IMAGE LOCATION.
Then, in your REPLY area on F.R., do your IMG SRC command and in between the quotation marks, (where it says the URL goes) do a PASTE (use CONTROL-V or from menu pick EDIT then PASTE.
Give it it a try. You can even test it using the ANIMATED file you were asking about.
Good luck

P.S. If you have a picture on JUST your computer and you wish to put it into a post, there are some really easy ways to do so.
Just ask.
P.S. I specified “URL” but it relates to exactly the same thing as “WEB SERVER LOCATION” (as used in NULL AND VOID’s command Reference)
There is no need to do a SAVE IMAGE. Saving the image on your computer serves no purpose, unless you just like the image a lot.
The proper routine is to use RIGHT CLICK-COPY IMAGE LOCATION.
I hate to say this, but it is time for the military to stage a coup. This man knows nothing about respecting the country, its citizens and it history.
Never before, even durning Clintons regime, was I afraid of this government. Now I hate to wake up in the morning, turn on the TV and see what new way Obama has demeaned us.
I've tried that a/href thing and it still fails me.
Hmmm? If you want to add a comment or link title do you put it in the >link title </a> part?
Thanks everybody. I didn’t mean to take over this thread with my question. All this is very helpful so I think it was worth it.
After you cut and paste the URL, hit RETURN. It makes it clickable.
If you stop at the end of the cut./paste, not clicking.
Why not try it?
I like to Photo shop images. You have to save the image to mess with it!
His current term (reign) won't expire until 20 Jan 2013. He'll be there all the way through 2012.
how to post pictures bump
Yes, but your instruction would confuse someone who is trying to learn how to post a picture on a thread.
Even if you saved a picture, and photoshopped it, you couldn’t put it in a post until it is uploaded to a server.
You left that detail out, and it’s an important one.
OK.
The command is A HREF=”put link here”
Put a LEFT CARET, then the command, then a RIGHT CARET.
Immediately after the RIGHT CARET, type in whatever text you want to describe the link.
Make sure you use the P command (inside carets) to separate any other text you might add above or below your LINK.
