Romans 14:11-12 (King James Version)

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

There was a time when American Leaders stood tall and did not submit to foreign leaders sadly America’s best days may well be behind us...... Note how the Chinese President did not return the deference.

Just to be fair, there are some instances when a polite bow, fully reciprocated by a foreign leader, is appropriate. Japan is such a culture, where various degrees of a bow of respect are their equivalent of a handshake. Even then, two world leaders would not make a pronounced bow of subservience, but would slightly and evenly bow to show respect. In that context, a bow is appropriate, even for a US President.

I am not sure about Chinese culture, but it does not appear that Hu is bowing in respect. So it appears to be an overstated gesture by Obama.

In the case of the Saudi king, Obama's exaggerated bow was not only out of context for the culture, it was submission. That is the sort of bow that is never to be done.

In the case of the Saudi king, Obama's exaggerated bow was not only out of context for the culture, it was submission.

And, in Saudi law, bowing to the king is illegal -- for exactly that reason.

Obama's bowing to the Japanese Emperor had the Japanese laughing out loud for at least a month. Footage of the scene became a staple on comedy shows.

Obama evidently pays no attention whatsoever to the Protocol Officers from the State Department and does what he wants to do. Which is to represent the U.S. groveling before its betters...
