Russia says Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will personally head the investigation into an aeroplane crash that killed Poland's president.
A total of 96 people were on board the plane that crashed near the western Russian city of Smolensk, all of whom are believed to be dead.
Polish president Lech Kaczynski was on board the Russian-built Tupolev 154 jet when it went down in heavy fog near a military airport.
Russian authorities have already said they suspect pilot error in the crash, near Smolensk, in Western Russia.
There are reports the jet made several attempted landings before the crash.
Also on board were leading members of Poland's political elite, including the army chief of staff and the governor of the central bank.
A scan of a list of 88 passengers aboard the plane published on a Polish government website showed the names of Poland's chief of staff, General Franciszek Gagor, and Major General Bronislaw, head of operational forces.
General Tadeusz Buk, head of land forces, air force commander Andrzej Blasik and special forces chief Wojciech Potasinki, as well as navy vice-admiral Andrzej Karweta, were also on the list.
They were part of an official delegation travelling to commemorate the massacre of thousands of Polish soldiers by soviet troops during the second world war.
Very easy to start getting suspicious of this crash. Especially with the turnover in Kyrgyzstan.

Something very wicked is going on here. Obama will not do a thing and Russia knows it. Communism is on the rise. Watch for China to flex muscle in Taiwan and South Korea soon as well.

Considering the General Chief of Staff of the Army AND the President of the National Bank was also on board and now dead... if someone wanted to do some damage to Poland and make them incredibly vulnerable, this would be it.
You’re right about something wicked going on here. That the first aftermath item is Putin saying he will oversee the investigation is hardly reassuring.

Law-enforcement sources said the hardest evidence gathered so far overwhelmingly suggests a surface-to-air missile...
The FBI interviewed 154 “credible” witnesses — including scientists, schoolteachers, Army personnel and business executives — who described seeing a missile heading through the sky just before TWA 800 exploded.
“Some of these people are extremely, extremely credible,” a top federal official said.
FBI technicians mapped the various paths — points in the sky where the witnesses said they saw the rising “flare-like” object — and determined that the “triangulated” convergence point was virtually where the jumbo jet initially exploded.

The presidential Tu-154 had been overhauled in December in Russia, officials said.
Terrible risk management. I wonder who’s idea it was to put all of those people on the same plane? Russia’s? Did Russia insist that they could only bring one plane into Russia? Inquiring minds want to know.
Yup-this is no accident.
Don’t know the motive yet-but my gut’s never wrong.
