I often wonder how many Tennesseans know where those 9 counties in their state got their names.
You can discover some amazing things by looking into local history. I learned that my tiny town of Norvell was named after Michigan’s first senator (John Norvell). That led me to discovering that Norvell corresponded with Thomas Jefferson and sought advice one a number of things.
