This also remains true to our founding fathers, namely Washington who LOVED our country and HATED partisan politics for that very reason. Of course many of our founding fathers seemed to find it fairly fantastic that people generally wouldn't embrace the benevolence and freedom wrought by our revolution and our Constitution, hence no need for parties.
Nevertheless, I like the decentralization of this movement - it more reflects the ideals we love and believe in. And I think it can still be effective, maybe more so, in getting the right people into office and the wrong people out.
We have several million leaders. That’s enough.
Indeed. The name "Tea Party" has been stolen by opportunistic political back-benchers to promote themselves to a higher level in the same old political game.
We need to change the name of the movement and leave these self annointed leaders standing flat-footed with their "Tea Party" brand.
I agree. I still have the McCain/Palin stickers on the back of my pickup truck; with duct tape over the McCain part.
are there really any of those left? (no pun) itr is a dying breed.
What you're describing is a movement with no means to combat the negative image being painted for it by the MSM. Not to mention no means of telling people who are not in the choir, what the movement is all about.
There's a tremendous amount of energy in the Tea Party movement, and a just cause ... but there's no focus, and thus no possibility of the movement exerting a coherent, national political influence.
It's not enough to play ad hoc games to organize "when it's necessary." You're facing a very well-organized opponent with vast resources, with well-organized and motivated partisans operating at both the national and local levels.
Look back at the events surrounding the formation of the First Continental Congress.
Is there a danger of corruption? Of course -- there always is. But the Founders organized despite that, and so should this movement.
Interestingly, it sounds like you don't actually trust anybody in the Tea Party movement. That's a pretty bad place to start, doncha think?
Ah, well, suit yourself.
the road to victory is through the tea party.
(what happened to the sons of liberty?)
This is not good news at all. Now it appears to me the Moderates/RINO’s want to control, thus redefine the Tea Party movement as they have the Republican Party in their perspective.
Is he even still alive? lol
Can't disagree. Once you become a "party" then sooner or later you lose your real raison d'etre (Biblical American values embodied in among other things, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution) and start to put a premium on your own perpetuation. You lose the edge of, "Give me liberty or give me death."

HOUSTON....Tea Party, Sam Houston Race Track
I’ve got two carloads coming. Looking for more.
They organized on a national level (or at least the Colonial equivalent).
Why did they organize that way? Because they were smart, and understood not only the stakes involved, but also the level of organization required to combat the over-reaching government of the time.
The battle seldom, if ever, goes to the less-organized army. The war never does.
The Republicans have impressed me the last 13 months. They have face mountains of abuse at the hands of this administration and the media. Now they need to learn how to act if they ever win.
Does that mean I’m going to donate to the RNC? It is unlikely that I will ever do so again.

Hopefully, this TPM group does not align itself with Freedom Works (Dick Armey...pro-Illegal/anti-American) or with Glenn Beck’s 9/12 (Obama Enabler, anti-Birther, New Age).....this would be more dangerous than going third party
Best bet is that this is just a way to network with others in the TPM. Funny that no one seems to mind the Tea Party Express group...but are up in arms over this TPM decision
All this “third party is bad” talk is nonsense. People already blasting a conservative Third Party tells me that the GOP will run another Liberal RINO in 2012. The GOP lost in ‘92 and ‘96 not because of Perot voters...they lost for running a Liberal RINO.
Running a real conservative keeps third parties from forming....
I think it’s a bad place when you let the left and liberals distract you from your purpose by getting caught up in answering their rhetoric. This is what’s happening. How much money are they going to waste and time, in refuting lies? Once the left distracts them that way the message gets diluted and momentum is wasted.
That’s wonderful that the tea party in Pasadena is supporting the Republican candidate for the 43rd Assembly district in California. Precisely the way the conservative movement is supposed to influence elections.
She is a conservative Republican, and she would want to win.
Third parties LOSE, and cause the Dems to win.
She cares too much about the country to let that happen.
Amen.
Plus, I would not put it past the Democrats to infiltrate the tea party movement and try to derail it.
