$17 for one can of pasta, after the sale discount? I hope that is made by Wolfgang Puck.

Unless it is the 55-gallon can.

This is freeze dried food made to last for 25 to 30 years. Very few companies make it, and make it well, such as Mountain House.

These are excellent prices. Trust me.

(and if the S ever does HTF, are you going to be concerned about the bills in your wallet which may now be worthless anyway, or the long-term food in your cellar?)

I wouldn’t buy “freeze dried pasta”...
not when you can buy and store wheat cheaper.

Look for the meats and dairies.

25 yr shelf life is worth the price, especially if you’ve been investigating what it will take to keep your family from starving in a SHTF situation.

Think of the soviet government induced famines.
That could happen. These people understand that you can’t control 300 million armed people, so they’ll try to take care of both problems.

It’s 10 servings per.

If it’s used during an *emergency* situation*, I doubt many will care about taste over substance.

That's $14.49 per pound - for freaking pasta. And that's the sale price. The normal price is $31.67 per 19 oz. can, which works out to $26.66 per pound of pasta.

I'm wondering if you get rare gemstones at the bottom of each can. Kind of like a rich prepper's Crackerjacks.

These are great to have on hand during a power outage, an evacuation or a camping/hiking trip. If you price it per serving, they really aren’t expensive. The Chicken & Rice comes to a little over $2/serving.

Get things like pasta, sugar, beans and rice, cooking oils at places like Sam's Club and don't pay for the shipping of these heavy products. You can take the larger packages and use a FoodSaver (also available at Sam's) and break them into smaller servings for your family. Canned tuna, chicken and beef will last a couple of years

Buy your proteins and vegetables freeze dried along with entrees that you might not be able to make yourself for long term storage.

Websites like foodinsurance.com and beprepared.com also sell items for food storage.

Consider dehydrating fruits and vegetables and making jerkies out of meats. You can use the FoodSaver to package them for storage.

I've been buying freeze dried foods only when they go on sale for the last couple of years. With a good list of what you will need and a few extra dollars each week, you'd be surprised how much food you can put away in a relatively short amount of time.
