Summary
Trojan:Win32/Alureon.A is a data-stealing trojan. This trojan allows an attacker to intercept incoming and outgoing Internet traffic in order to gather confidential information such as user names, passwords, and credit card data. Trojan:Win32/Alureon.A may also allow an attacker to transmit malicious data to the infected computer. The trojan may modify DNS settings on the host computer to enable the attacker to perform these tasks. Therefore it may be necessary to reconfigure DNS settings after Trojan:Win32/Alureon.A is removed from the computer.

One other thought.
If you DID GET that Trojan,
then you NEED to change all your passwords and Log-ins, after you clean out that Trojan,
because the primary focus of that Trojan is to go after your wallet.

Thanks for all the help....fortunately, though, all we do with our computers is "play" - no online buying, banking, etc.
Sometimes, it's a good thing to be a dinosaur....

Nothing compares to Windows in ease of use, hence that is where everything is built. Unix is nice, MVS is sweet (but simple). Feh. FORTRAN forever.
Cheers!

You're lucky.
My PayPal account sent me an e-mail, reporting "suspicious activity",
and that was my first hint that something was wrong.

Interesting. I trust you - member since ‘98 - but fear kicked in - I couldn’t make myself click on the link... I’ll do it later. Thanks for the insights.

And the worst part is that there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it ONCE the malware is introduced. Well, except seeing the internet connection suddenly begin blinking madly for no apparent reason and unplugging the cable....

The link goes nowhere. I just made it up as an example.

I wrote my first perfect program in Fortran. Thought about it a lot, coded it up on sheets first, popped it into to the card reader, and it worked first time.
Doesn’t happen often but I remember the first time.
Magic square. Worst part is that I still have it in a box ;-]

Wasn’t it an interesting effort to port BLISS-32 (64) to any other architecture? (Alpha was the only port while I was involved).

I love to humble myself for a made up link... anyhow - again - thanks for the insights. Interesting.
