The investigative organization WikiLeaks on Monday released military video of what it describes as three incidents of an "indiscriminate slaying" by U.S. forces near Baghdad on July 12, 2007.
WikiLeaks says the encounters killed as many as 25 civilians, including two Reuters journalists. The U.S. military said in a statement at the time that a total of 11 people died in the strikes conducted by U.S. and Iraqi forces, including two Reuters employees.
The video, obtained by WikiLeaks, is shot from two Apache helicopters on patrol in Iraq. The choppers were responding to reports of AK-47 gunfire in the suburb of New Baghdad when military personnel on board spotted a group of nine to 12 persons, including what turned out to be the two Reuters photographers, walking through a courtyard. A military official confirmed the authenticity of the footage to Fox News.
The military contends that the U.S. followed the appropriate "Rules of Engagement" for these episodes. In fact at the time, the Pentagon says U.S. troops were hit by rocket-propelled grenades (RPG's) and small arms fire while caught in a clash with Shia insurgents.
"There is no question that coalition forces were clearly engaged in combat operations against a hostile force," said multinational forces spokesman Lt. Col. Scott Bleichwehl in July, 2007.

Show me the shade...
You said they were in the shade. Post 41 clearly makes you a liar.
Get the heck off FR liar.
well that solves it. they definitely deserved to be slaughtered then! and the van that drove by a few minutes after the shooting to try to help the wounded....well they deserved to be murdered as well.
How do people like you sleep at night.
The van was unmarked. Did you see the soldier running with the child in his arms you freak you?
And I sleep great.
Now what else you got to cry about?
BTW aren’t you leaving?
Or is that just more BS?
The van was unmarked? That’s your justification for why it was ok to destroy it and the people who were tending to the wounded...because the van was unmarked? Do you realize just how ridiculous that sounds? Never mind the fact that there were absolutely no threatening gestures displayed at the time, because gosh darn it, the van wasn’t marked.
It must take an especially black soul to seriously use this logic as some sort of justification for slaughter.
“two Reuters employees” embedded with the insurgents?
They were pro-terrorist propagandists who reaped what they sowed. And Reuters employees, of course. But I repeat myself.
That is scary good shooting.
Cordially,
Excuse me, you are the sick idiot who dreamed them talking in the shade. So anything you have to say needs to be put into the proper perspective of just how defunct you really are.
Yes the van was unmarked. Soldiers look for markings like an ambulance.
Lesson of the day - don’t drive an unmarked van into a combat scene and pull over to grab people.
All you do is invent the worst case scenario against our guys who are trained to make these decisions. You are a tool of the terrorists. Shame on you.
It seems llike rather obvious advice, doesn’t it?
What a crock.
The van had been running around in the fight Zone picking up combatants.
Seems funny, I never saw any children. Saw guys that clearly were aware of the chopper yet continued on, never even bothered to signal the chopper.
Seems this 3 year old vid is being spread around NOW. WHY.
Is this the vietnamization of our troops. Will not work, this Country has been there, done that. Purely an attack on the troops. Pull this nasty thing.
Like I said....only a dark, sick, and twisted soul would find it acceptable to gun down bystanders who have come upon wounded people and were trying to help them simply because the van they were driving was “unmarked”. You are one truly disgusting individual, as only a disgusting individual would be able to formulate such a justification for murder.
I pity you.
....so the US military now has to defend its actions when shooting at ARMED people during a combat situation?
Face it: we really are f**ked in this country....
Where did you find the video? Did you go out to the WikiLeaks site to find it? According to the story, Foxnews requested - but was denied - a copy of the video.
This is WAR. We win they lose. Titily Winks it's not.
Unfortunate that Muslim dogs bring their children to a firefight, but that's on them.
I was very impressed with the coordination of our guys and their skill and training. The devastating firepower we can unleash on our enemies. They don't stand a chance.
God bless our military and God bless the USA.
You have been shown to be a liar for the terrorists. You can’t get more sick than that.
You may be on the wrong website...
Yes, I watched the video. It was a group of people walking toward an active combat area while holding an assortment of long narrow objects, then crouching as they peered around a corner in a suspect manner, then shot down after fulfilling the most restrictive rules of engagement any power has ever imposed upon itself. Then when a van, that also had occupants only discernible after video enhancement & slow analysis & after-the-fact information, came to help in a manner consistent with further hostile activity. Those doing the shooting were acting consistent with those involved in such dire operations as a professional matter-of-course.
Don’t bring kids into a war zone.
As a deer camp buddy says of sissys like you...”Does your pu$$y hurt or something?”. As a former 35D/35E, the intel I saw indicated weapons, and setting up an ambush. Good shooting. Hindsight is 20/20, and this is war. You obviously have never been shot or served your country’s armed forces. Go back to DU.
