Today, Laura's interview with Oprah aired. If you couldn't watch or want to watch again, here are some parts of the interview.
Thanks for these links! I missed it and was angry at myself! LOL!
I'm still super mad at myself
Laura was absolutely charming, the stories she told fascinating (Oprah actually asked her good stuff - romantic, even.... ;), the girls were fantastic, and the old home movies were priceless.
This is one AMAZING family..........so NORMAL, and yet not!
If it repeats any time, WATCH it!
Definitely a MUST SEE!
THANK YOU for posting these awesome video links from an awesome interview!
I just finisted watching my recording of the Oprah interview and must agree with ohiowfan: From beginning to end, this interview was PRICELESS — I particularly enjoyed the visit to the ranch (which featured one handsome former president), and the ‘home movies’ of George and Laura’s wedding and Jenna’s wedding . . . AWESOME, simply AWESOME!
Very sweet of you to find and post the excerpt and the links. Thank you very much, florm15!!!!
And I forgot to record it. What a dork I am!!
I received her book today and it is excellent. This is, as the reviewer said, not your average political book.
It is literature. Her descriptions of Midland are haunting and beautiful. She accurately captures the mid-60’s at SMU (very similar to my time at Indiana University) and her joy at the birth of the twins (and George’s) was just wonderful to read.
This is a wonderful, wonderful book and I highly recommend buying it if possible. It is one that you will want to keep.
As promised, it’s the last thing I’m going to watch tonight and I’m going to bed EARLY...lol.
I’m very happy to know that you and Dr.Deb loved the interview!!
My DVR missed less than the first 30 seconds of the show, but since it will be rebroadcast here at midnight, I’m recording it again with extra time at the beginning and end. Then I’m making a DVD for my collection. Simply fabulous!
LOL. Can’t do without the first 30 second! God vless you!!!
Does Oprah sell DVD's of her show??
If not, dearest friend Luvya, would you mind selling one of your freshly minted DVD's to your old Ohio friend??
Pretty please?? ;*)
Oh, my GOODNESS, they were so touching when talking about their Mom.........and Dad, of course.
Barbara was so moved. SUCH a sweet family!
....and for a friend in Texas? Hmmmm?
I was very mad at myself for missing it and NOT taping it!
onyx said it's on at midnight where she is. Right??
And then after you watch it right away, Luvya can send us BOTH a DVD. ;*)
add me to the list of those wanting a copy on dvd. I would love to screencapture some of this! I’ve done the Oprah videos online and will probably post them tomorrow.
A GREAT interview.
Laura started talking about her upbringing in Midland with Mother and Dad and Grandparents. She spoke about the auto accident - which the girls didn’t know about - until someone told them. And then, Laura told them about it in thier teens. Tears. Her mariage to George W Bush, and thier wish for babies.
Then Jenna and Barbara. Their idyllic homelife in Midland -which Jenna later referenced in the toast Laura made at the rehearsal dinner - more tears from the girls. (((loved it )))))Talked about September 11, and Lynne Cheney. The girls spoke about how their mother knew what was going on in their lives - and nudged them towards their destiny in thier lives.
Oprah was very respectful, and asked the twins about their letter to the Obama girls. And they told about the letter they had written to the Obama girsl. Remember who your Dad is - he is not the person written about and lampooned in the media. It was so dear. Opral loved it.
It was a beautiful interview. Laura allowed cameras on the ranch. SHE was driving the pickup around the ranch, showing the audience the beauty of thier home, and ranch, as well as Jenna’s wedding videos.
If you can see it I would highly recommend it. A lovely portrait of the the Bush family. A Mother and her girls, telling their story.
And we knew it because the Dose kept us in the loop. Thank God for the Dose.
A replay of Oprah? Not that I know about. I TIVO’d her show.
