When you think of the homeless what do you see? Mark Schumann knows what you see, and chances are it's not him, 'Most people see homelessness as the man laying on the side walk, but it's a little more complicated than that.'
Mark Schumann knows firsthand, 'I know people who wear nicely tailored suits and you would never know they were homeless."
In these tough times experts say more and more families are finding themselves just one paycheck away from living on the streets. Kevin Lindamood, with Health Care for the Homeless, says, 'The gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen and unfortunately intact families in this economic time find it difficult to find a place to stay.'
And difficult to find the medical help they need, 'I was working and I had a physical disability that kept me from doing the work I did, and as that failed my psychiatric disabilities starting suffering and my alcoholism got worse.'
An example of the need being met in Baltimore by Health Care for the Homeless. And their new home is just off the JFX downtown. A home built after six years of planning, fundraising and construction. Now the $15.5 million building is ready to serve. 'Health Care for the Homeless tries to intervene by getting people off the streets and back into the mainstream.'
Mark Schumann hasn't made it back into the mainstream yet, but he knows he wouldn't be this close, without the kind of help he'll get here, 'With out health care i don't know where I would be.'

Allofasudden I'm Amish AND homeless.
For over two hundred years we did away with debtors prison. Obama and the Rats have brought it back.
OBAMA GIVES !!!...but of course it’s from other’s not himself....schmuck!
That war horse about the “gap between rich and poor” is getting pretty tattered and torn. If the idea is to tsk-tsk the rich, well why not go right to the rich and ask about their charity practices? Rich Rats are the stingiest of the rich.
I don’t get your headline, are the poor and homeless exempt or going to be sent to prison?
They aren’t fined... unless they’re making a lot of money and are homeless... the mandate is pretty convoluted...
You know, like England's and Canada's has become...
UNtil the people forget that it really does not work like it was intended.. except on paper..
Not quite sure what the story’s about - but it does seem that out of the 32 million now to be covered under Obamacare - supposedly the reason the whole system had to be “reformed” - 16 million will go on to Medicaid, and therefore must have been eligible to begin with, and the other 16 million will be required to purchase their own insurance, and thus probably could have afforded it had they wanted to buy it originally - the so-called reform really hasn’t changed a thing as far as providing increased coverage.....
