In a response to Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett’s decision to join 13 other states in filing a lawsuit against the federal health care legislation, PA House Appropriations Chairman Dwight Evans threatened to “do whatever it takes” to thwart the AG’s efforts. Incensed, Evans even went so far as to say he would be willing to cut off all state appropriations to the Office of the Attorney General to prevent Corbett from fighting this legislation.

"Furthermore, Evans’ threat seems a clear violation of the separation of powers, and threatens the independence of the Attorney General. Indeed, it seems particularly curious, coming a mere two days after Corbett secured a conviction against Evans’ former House Democrat colleague Mike Veon, and is continuing his investigation and prosecution of House Democrats.

Lastly, the lawsuit being filed isn’t over some flippant issue. There are legitimate Constitutional concerns over the legality of this legislation. Not only does the legislation violate the 10th Amendment, but the fiscal impact of the health care bill will assuredly cost Pennsylvanians billions of dollars."

Interesting. It has ALWAYS been the dream of liberals to end justice (as we know it, except against conservatives, of course)...now they have a chance to do it.

Sign our PETITION against conforming Minnesota law to ObamaCare!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2480643/posts

(excerpt)
EVEN WORSE: The bill not only requires Minnesota to conform to the federal bill, it moves the date of implementation and the individual mandate from 2014 to January 1, 2012. It adds a more restrictive individual mandate to purchase health insurance (no exceptions), regional payment reform for Medicare (think Hillary’s regional alliances doing cost containment through care restrictions) the “public option” (single-payer plan rejected by the U.S. Senate), and a state “health insurance exchange” (bureaucracy to sell insurance and track insurance status) by 2012.

I didn’t know about Washington. I am sure there is a whole lot of phones being lit up behind the scenes right now.

It smells like the end of the Roman republic - Sulla and all those bastards. A good many of them died with swords in their guts though.

How many people will want to live or remain in Minn. if this becomes state law too? Not many.

I heard Mark Levin on Cavuto today and he said he thinks the states have a good suit and something about them screwing up in one part of the bill which is in regard to the enforcement of collecting the fines. Cavuto cut him off so not sure what he was going to say. but I am encouraged.

I think Evans would have to get that passed by the house and senate. I really don’t think that would happen.

I thought the liberals were proud opf their hand carafted legislation and stated that it was clearly Constitutional due to the good and wlefare clause. They are trying to get the people to accept it, what better than to have the Supreme Court rule it constitutional so we can end all argument. Did this clown taka an oath to support the Constitutios? Maybe he should be removed.

Brass knuckles time baby. You de-fund the AG in PA, good idea. So when we get back the House in November we can de-fund 0bamacare. Then if we can take the WH, and with the House and as little 50 votes in the Senate plus the VP, we now have the precedent to repeal in 2013.
Blowback!

Looks like WAR between Attorney Generals of states and Govenors surfacing now...

Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire in Washington State is likewise fighting with their Attorney General Rob McKenna(R) , who is joining a multistate challenge to the constitutionality of the health care bill.

Since it’s out in the open why doesn’t the AG arrest Mr. Evans?

Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Joins Other Governors in Offer to Help U.S. Attorney General Defend Legality of New National Health Care Act

Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today released the following letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, in which he and the governors of Washington, Michigan and Colorado offer to help defend the national health care act signed into law this week by President Obama:

March 26, 2010

The Honorable Eric Holder, Attorney General

U.S. Department of Justice

950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530-0001

RE: State of Florida, et al v. United States

Dear Attorney General Holder:

On behalf of citizens of our states, we write to let you know that that we oppose the actions of the state Attorneys General who have filed a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. We believe their legal efforts will fail in court, unnecessarily delay the urgent need to get our citizens access to health care and waste our state tax dollars. As you prepare and deliver your defense of this landmark legislation, you have our commitment to work with you, at your request, to assist in this effort.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is, in our view, the single most important reform of our health care system in decades. The bill gives American families and small business owners more control over their own health care. It shifts health care decision making authority away from insurance companies to the citizens whose health is at risk. It ends discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions and allows young people to remain covered by their parents’ insurance until age twenty-six. As our states struggle to balance budgets and maintain services, the savings introduced through this legislation are critical to our future.

We are ready to offer you any help you many need and we will stand by your efforts to protect this most historic improvement of health care for every citizen of this nation.

Sincerely,
(signed)

Governor Christine O. Gregoire, Washington

Governor Bill Ritter Jr., Colorado

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, Michigan

Governor Edward G. Rendell, Pennsylvania
