That's true. But the government side would have to increase its ranks by a factor of six drawing mostly from the liberal left. They would have to supply most of them their arms. A force of six million on the other side would soon be able to appropriate a lot of hardware from their side. Or foreign arms suppliers.

But I think that kind of action is academic when you have tens of millions of civilians, who look and act like all the other civilians, serving tea and coffee and every other supply under the sun to the gov forces. I think their supplies would begin to run short rather rapidly and what they did get would be a mixed-bag Russian roulette assortment of goods.

I think life in the military would lose its appeal when a goodly number of guys started getting letters from home that said "Don't ever come home. I mean it! Love Mom and Dad."

If you break it down red/blue a lot of manufacturing is in the red states. Especially fighter aircraft. Small arms goes to blue. Shipyards red. Tanks blue. Tanks are a big problem for red. If red has the better Navy then tanks can be purchased abroad. If Ohio breaks red (or is overrun by red), then tanks go red.
