I'm blessed and honored to have a good number of Marines (most of them retired) as friends, and since knowing them I'm convinced that the term "Devil Dogs" is apt and fitting!

This past weekend I got to spend some time with an older (retired) USMC Lt. Col. I was standing nearby when a former USAF guy made the mistake of using the term ex-Marine. He won't do that again. :-)

If it does dissolve into that...I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees. Not trying to project false bravado or anything but truly... that is my choice. I will not capitulate or compromise. It is disturbing that this blog or whatever it was, was posted. It's just another 'issue' that we will have to contend with. I am not going to cower in fear.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. Perhaps written by an Obama Staffer to scare us and “Keep us in our place?”

Unfortunately, I see secession followed by on a Civil War with Red States vs. Blue States, mano a mano.

Since we are the ones who are armed for the most part, blue states will tend to turn red rather quickly.

If my state VA, goes blue I have to make a choice. Do I stay or go? I am to old for the draft. I would probably leave for a red state on philosophical grounds.

A lot of us will be staying behind enemy lines, hopefully with the opportunity to take out an occasional Marxist traitor. Us harmless looking grandpas, you know.

My God...that is truly awful and my heart breaks for what he went through.
Yes, humans do a lot of things to survive and some even turn on their fellow human beings, as shown by your own father’s captivity. And that situation, that war is probably the clearest reminder of what is possible. And it is our best lesson and blueprint for what is happening now. You are right about starting to fight the moment we can...which is what is being done without the violence. But if violence and brutalization of citizens begins, I will not hesitate to defend myself or others. Without Liberty we are dead anyway...And as far as those that ‘have too much to lose to risk it and fight’, they are going to lose it all even if they don’t fight and they better prepare themselves for that fact. They technically lost it all when this madman was elected...now it’s just a matter of time.
We have no choice but to stand. The line has been drawn.

“So call me naive, but yes. I do have faith in the Constitution and the mechanisms inside of it to correct itself and removing people unworthy of holding office. If I didn’t , I never would’ve taken an oath to defend it.”

He only has faith in the mechanisms to correct it because his boy won. And interesting that he mentiones removing people unworthy of holding office. Obviously he’s talking about the Usurper. This means the leftists are really worried.

“You just can’t defend part of the Constitution, or the parts you agree with. It’s all or nothing. I choose to defend all of it ,even the parts I may disagree with.”

WHAT PARTS OF THE CONSTITUTION DOES HE DISAGREE WITH???

Look at the Spanish, Bosnian and Lebanese civil wars to see how ugly it gets when cities go to war with themselves, and when the “lines” are a shifting patchwork. It’s beyond ugly. Makes our CW1 look like a very polite gentleman’s duel.

****************

I largely agree with you. I TOTALLY agree with the first part. I only partially disagree with respect to our previous Civil War being relatively restrained. In the formal armies, in the major theaters - yes. In the border states . . . sheer carnage, including the deliberate killing of unarmed civilians and disarmed troops. Numerous examples from both sides.

Somebody threatened his family? That’s wrong.

And did he not threaten all of ours?

Excellent comments! I love the last paragraph:

They should stop threatening and insulting the American people. That just makes Americans think they shouldn't exist. When you deal with people with honesty and respect they hardly ever think about revolt or mayhem. We are not animals we are men and we know the difference between respect and insults, between honest differences and a con game. We know the difference between the Constitution and Karl Marx.

While your family has suffered greatly, please recall the sacrifices made by the people of United States to free your father. Our Great Nation will not bow to tyranny- from without or within.
