Thomas Hicks, Nominee for Commissioner, Election Assistance Commission

Thomas Hicks has been the Senior Elections Counsel on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on House Administration since 2003 where he oversees all Committee matters relating to Federal elections and campaign finance. Prior to that, he was a Policy Analyst for Common Cause, a non-profit, public advocacy organization working in support of election and campaign finance reform. He also previously served as a Special Assistant in the Office of Congressional Relations at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. He received his J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and his B.A. in Government from Clark University (Worcester, MA).

This one is of particular interest to me. I have heard Soros on many occasions saying that those who control the elections also control the outcomes. This is the most frightening appointment to me. Does anyone know more about this guy?

Not entirely correct. Obama would never walk into the ovens. He’d just tell them to walk in on their own.

No. He would put them on government assistance!

As someone who has been around for awhile, I have seen a number of presidents come and go, some good and some not so good; but the current president is the most loathsome and detestable of the them all.

IMPEACH...IMPEACH...IMPEACH !!

I don’t know if my nerves can handle 3 more years of him. When I blow out the candles on my birthday cake next week, there is only 1 Wish I can make (I can’t say what it is, but I’m pretty sure you already know)

“Communists and Socialists ALL! You can bet on that!”

There’s probably a couple of garden variety idiots thrown in just so that Biden will have someone to converse with.

obummer’s time is short and fleeting in the bigger scheme of things, but the damage he is causing to all African Americans’ w/ political aspirations in the future is incalculable.

YES! And my heart is heavy for the Wonderful Black Conservatives who can do so much for America.

Because of The Lyin' King's Hubris and Disdain for this Beautiful Nation of Ours, and the inevitable connection that will be made that he is and will always will be "The First African-American President of The USA", a Precious, Historical Moment has been spoiled forever.

The New York Times on recess appointments (2006)

For What It’s WorthMarch 27, 2010...8:08 pm
The New York Times on recess appointments

Of course, that was then: This from 2006 – doubtless we can expect the same editorial tomorrow.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the Congressional holiday break, Mr. Bush announced 17 recess appointments — a constitutional gimmick that allows a president to appoint someone when Congress is in recess to a job that normally requires Senate approval. The appointee serves until the next round of Congressional elections.

This end run around Senate confirmation was built into the Constitution to allow the president to quickly fill vacancies that came up when lawmakers were out of town, to keep the government running smoothly in times when travelers and mail moved by horseback and Congress met part time.

Modern presidents have employed this power to place nominees who ran into political trouble in the Senate. Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton made scores of recess appointments. But both of them faced a Congress controlled by the opposition party, while the Senate has been under Republican control for Mr. Bush’s entire five years in office.

In some cases, Mr. Bush has used the recess appointment power to rescue egregiously bad selections that would never pass muster on grounds of experience and competence. (Remember last year’s recess appointment of the undiplomatic and Congressionally unacceptable John Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations.)

President Bush put John Bolton during a recess. This is nothing new. I would think even President Reagan did recess appointments.

Ok don’t like using Bush, well Reagan made over 200 appointments during recess. I am sure that the Democrats at the time were thrilled and thought they were qualified...NOT!!! :)

So, what this tells me is that he doesn’t think these people could get past a heavily Democratic Congress and Senate?

No, even money or better, that he could get them through, and that he is just doing it this way out of pure spite, and to p.o. the 'Pubbies. Once more, "Cicero's unseemly gesture" for the Republicans, like we never get tired of seeing it.

Ah, yes -- the silky, Drakkar-scented swwwiiiiiisshhhh of the pooves at the NYT sliding one past us.

"Last year" was 2002 ...... when, thanks to Turncoat Jeffords Who Will Burn in Hell Forever, the LYING RATS controlled the Senate .....

Of course Bolton was "unacceptable"! He was a Republican with a male member, a pair, and a backbone!!

Bunch of liars ......they have more ways to lie than Queen Zenobia had openings in her nightgown.
