Why can’t Catholics get it that “social justice” is a mixture of envy. jealousy, covetousness, theft and bitterness. SIN. It is materialism. It sees problems in terms of money. If only people had enough money their lives would work. Utter nonsense.

It's not just the Catholic Church. The latest movement taking Evangelical churches by storm, the Emerging/Emergent Church, is HUGE into social justice. It's shocking how many denominations and/or pastors are falling for the unbiblical teachings by the likes of Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, etc. The message of social justice seems to be replacing the message of salvation.

Why was this posted? The Church opposed this health-care bill and as far as I know does not claim a monopoly on social justice. Are there false brethren in the Church and those who have departed from her discipline and doctrine? To be sure. That’s part of the crisis in that they are allowed to continue their infidelity without consequences.

The writer nails it.

The Bishops felt they could cut themselves an all-too-clever bargain to have Medical Social Justice AND protect the unborn.

When they could not have both, they allowed themselves to buy into the Bart Stupak fantasy EO, and the babies went quite literally out with the bathwater.

If they had been speaking forceully from the pulpits all winter they could have killed this. The pathetic Pro Life handout they gave us at noon on Sunday belies their complicity.

Critical excerpt omission:

"In fairness, 50 Catholic bishops urged Catholics not to vote for Obama, and Catholics who attend mass every week voted for McCain 55%-43%."

You broad brushers need to stick it in your dirt chute.

The so-called “Holy Mother Church” has spent centuries enslaving and oppressing the poor-but-faithful masses that were intentionally kept from scripture and enlightenment in order for church leaders to maintain power.

Not much has changed, except that today Catholics have scripture at their fingertips and have little excuse for ignoring the abuses of power and fabricated rules that pharisaical church heirarchy use to keep them spiritually enslaved.

The final straw, for me, was watching a peasant man crawling on bloody knees to offer his last dime at the new Our Lady of Guadalupe basilica in Mexico City in 1978.

We visited the new church and saw the painting enshrined above the altar there. I commented to the guide about how bright the colors were, and she told me they paint the image to keep it looking good.

Seriously. What a load of ....

Idolatry, pure and simple.

"In practice, however, Obama's stint as an Illinois state legislator bore little resemblance to the teachings or beliefs of the Catholic Church."

Thank you for making that important distinction, and many others. This is a fair-minded, informed article.

Take two steps back to gain a little more perspective, looking not at Obama, nor at legislators, but at the mitred teachers of the Faith. And the problem is not that the American Bishops and their USCCBTM trahison-des-clercs bureaucracy are too Catholic, but that they are not Catholic enough.

Social justice is best pursued through fidelity to the Constitution of the United State

Heresy and idolatry. Social justice is best pursued through fidelity to God the Almighty Father.

“Social Justice” was not even mentioned in the Catholic Church 20 or even 10 years ago.

This is a fairly new (and uninformed) take on the mercy and justice) of God.

God is fully merciful. Gos is fully just.

Period. That’s it, folks!
