I just saw Fla. AG Bill McCollum on Greta tonight. I taped it and then transcribed it roughly: Greta: "If the court were to agree that the mandate were unconstitutional, would it knock out the entire health care bill or just that one particular provision being tossed out?" McCollum: "WELL, WE THINK THAT IS THE CORE OF THE WHOLE BILL AND I BELIEVE THAT IT WOULD KNOCK OUT THE WHOLE BILL, BUT THE REALITY IS, IT IS A HOUSE OF CARDS, BECAUSE, IT IS ALL PREDICATED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT YOU REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED; AND IF YOU CAN'T REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED, THEN THE METHODOLOGY OF TRYING TO SOLVE THE HEALTHCARE PROBLEM WOULD FAIL. AT LEAST THIS METHODOLOGY." He said the states are being told to provide additional services, set up ins. exchanges, etc., and the Federal govt. has no authority to do so. He said this is unprecedented. Also said 2-3 more DEMOCRAT AG's ARE GOING TO PROBABLY JOIN THE SUIT AS WELL AS MORE AG's. He said the lawsuit procedure could take anywhere from a few months to two yrs. and does not happen quickly and whoever loses would no doubt appeal.

I just cant see the Courts being to helpful in any kind of reasonable time frame. The legislative branch of government is the only entity that can make changes within a reasonable time period..
I already know how to avoid this: the Amish card. Under the HC bill, The Amish, as well as some other religious sects, are covered by a “religious conscience” exemption, which allows people with religious objections to insurance to opt out of the mandate. It is in both the House and Senate versions of the bill. It will all depend on what kind of religious organization you can come up with which states in it’s constitution about religious indifference or objections...
It’s unbelievable the sheer arrogance of these people who believe they can make socialism work - despite all evidence to the contrary. What is the definition of mental illness again???
How about the persecuted Evangelical Christians. There is no more hated group in America than this rabid minority of fanatics. “Remember, they hated me first...”
There is no such thing as free
the courts also can respond to all kinds of 10th amendment issues, as the state have regulatory control over much of the now federalized mandates. We’ll see. I am not super confident on any, but if it does get to the SC with the current 5 in majority still intact, I am hopeful. They have taken strong constitutional stands recently on the 2nd Amendment and campaign finance - the later being a congressional action similar in its over-reach.
Personally, I’ve never been so pessimistic about the direction of the country.
The American people, by and large, are too busy with their bread and circuses to see that the current administration has taken us far, far along the path to socialist mediocrity and stagnation, and has, moreover, essentially shredded the constitution.
Religion has passed so far out of fashion that any objection to homosexuality on moral grounds is considered a “hate crime,” while prayer in schools is banned, and classes in premarital and extramarital sexual technique are offered in the nation’s schools. The only religious practices which are currently protected by law are Moslem.
The racial playing field has not been leveled as a result of civil rights legislation; rather, Blacks are now a protected and coddled minority with special rights and privileges. Nevertheless, statistically, Blacks clearly commit more crime and father more children out of wedlock than anyone else - something which no one is supposed to mention. The (specious) excuse that it’s “poverty that is responsible” is belied by the fact that a great many Asians are as poor, yet do not turn to crime and illegitimacy. This, also, we’re not “supposed” to mention.
I don’t believe the health bill will be reversed; I do believe the next shoe to fall will be amnesty for illegals, and their votes will insure Democrat majorities in congress for a long time to come; I do believe the economy will decline into certifiable depression. I believe that the United States government will slide from its current parlous state into a permanent state of Banana Republic corruption.
As with the depression of the 1920’s, I believe the only way out will be a major world war. This time, however, America will have neither the faith nor the moral fiber to win, and will not be safe behind oceans on either coast, since ICBMs can cross the seas in minutes.
As you can see, I’m not a happy camper. Someone please tell me I’m wrong on all counts, and why.
Dont even try figuring out these bastards.
BTTT! Hoping this is true!
Years before the case is heard? I doubt that. There is a compelling, time-critical need to cut the head off this monster BEFORE WE’RE EXPECTED TO BEGIN PAYING TAXES FOR IT THIS YEAR.
Form properly something like ‘Church of the Republican Christian’ and use that just in case the IRS knocks on your door. Just tell them ‘according to our teachings, God will cure me of my physical ailments, that’s why I dont pay for HC”
I’m serious about this..
the state do not want mandate healtrh care.
most of there uninsred are Medicaid pateint would exploe state budgets.
This entire Obama care scam is Romney care which has bankrupt Mass.
There wil be no new insured paying patients but the Medicaid qualifying number will explode and sink every single state if they try to cover everyone.
In the end, people will just pay the IRS fine.
The entire bill is a HOAX and a massive TAX INCREASE.
Yep the horse is out of the barn....we will be lucky (if there are enough of us..in other words those who aren't budding communists) if after the tsunami we can rebuild years down the road...stupid Americans set a wrecking ball in motion and until it stops swinging and damaging there isn't much we can do. There will be lawsuits and repeal attempts but IMHO none will be successful.
I would not trust Kennedy to be much help it could easily be a 5-4 decision and he authors the opinion for the majority...
Ding ding ding we have a winner!!
there ya go, that’s the spirit
There is no need to try to figure them out - it’s as plain as the nose on Rep. Dingell’s face (who was quoted today as saying, “ . . . it takes time to control the people”). Maxine Waters made a comment during a congressional hearing into oil prices that also shows their mindset - she began to say that the hearings were all about socializing . . . , and then changed her wording to “ . . . taking control of the oil industry”. Tyranny is their goal.
