I called Sen. Casey’s (D) Pennsylvania Office. They are saying that the Senate Bill DOES NOT provide for tax-payer funded abortions. I asked why Stupak needed an EO — Casey’s Office says Stupak did not trust the bill nor the leadership on the issue. SOMEBODY IS LYING - -

My understanding of the Senate bill (from my watching many news shows) is that you and I might have the same insurance policy, and if I want abortion coverage included with it, I would pay a extra fee. But the common pool of money from all the premiums is used to cover both your treatments and my abortions, not that the abortion fee forms it’s own pool of money. Adding to that is I may be poor and get mine paid for by the tax dollars to buy the same insurance, but still have to pay that abortion additional fee. So taxpayer and your premiums still get used for abortions as they fund the same pool of money. The pro-aborts were arguing that it was OK because they pay an extra fee.

I think the dispute has something to do with “direct” funding. If the federal does not directly fund it but mandates that abortion is a service that has to be provided by and funded by the states... but I am not sure, just throwing out something I had heard.
