Controversial columnist and author Anne Coulter speaks at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, on Monday, March 22, 2010

LONDON, Ont. -- Inflammatory right-wing pundit Ann Coulter took aim at a University of Ottawa administrator on Monday, saying an email from the school warning her to use "restraint, respect and consideration" when addressing Ontario students during a speaking tour this week made her a victim of a "hate crime."

Speaking to students and academics at the University of Western Ontario on Monday night, Ms. Coulter said the email sent to her on Friday by François Houle, vice-president academic and provost of the University of Ottawa, targeted her as a member of an identifiable group and as such, she will be filing a complaint with the Human Rights Commission alleging hate speech.

"I'm sure the Human Rights Commission will get to the bottom of it," Ms. Coulter said to loud cheers from the 800-strong audience. "I think I'm the victim of a hate crime here. Either what [Mr. Houle] did was a hate crime, or the whole commission is B.S."

In Mr. Houle's email, a copy of which was obtained by the National Post, the administrator urges Ms. Coulter to weigh her words with "respect and civility in mind" when she speaks at the University of Ottawa campus on Tuesday.

Even though Ms. Coulter is not a Canadian citizen, Mr. Levant, who has been involved in human rights law cases, said it would not be "outlandish" for Ms. Coulter to file a complaint against the University of Ottawa, especially in light of the 1985 Singh v. Minister of Employment and Immigration case.
Dang, if it wouldn't be outlandish, Coulter may not be interested!

Some men don’t like strong minded women. It’s that simple.

This was posted already this morning, but the body of the post was a little strange and it was moved to bloggers while I was reading it.

So I thought I would post it nice and clean (and hopefully articulate) in News again and hope it stays here

Ann is white, therefore she is guilty of a “hate crime”.

Respect and civility? Hey,I can't speak for Canada or Canadians but,IMO,there are *plenty* of individuals and groups here, overseas, and very possibly in Canada too that are deserving of nothing but contempt.

Annie's response on Freedom's Lighthouse:

"Now that the provost has instructed me on the criminal speech laws he apparently believes I have a proclivity (to break), despite knowing nothing about my speech, I see that he is guilty of promoting hatred against an identifiable group: conservatives," Coulter wrote in an e-mail to the Ottawa Citizen Monday. The Citizen had requested a telephone interview with Coulter, but instead received the e-mail from the author.

She questioned whether every speaker booked at the university receives a similar warning, or just the conservative ones.

"The provost simply believes and is publicizing his belief that conservatives are more likely to commit hate crimes in their speeches. Not only does this promote hatred against conservatives, but it promotes violence against conservatives," Coulter wrote.

She added she will ask the human rights commission to investigate, but didn't specify which one. "I was hoping for a fruit basket upon my arrival in Canada, not a threat to criminally prosecute me," Coulter said. . . . MORE

Ann is white, therefore she is guilty of a “hate crime”.

And if,by chance, she's Christian...or even has any degree of respect for Christianity and its values...that,too,is a hate crime.

What is fascinating to me is that liberals refuse to get Ann's satire and sarcasm. How, for heaven's sake, can these university eggheads have never read "A Modest Proposal"

Is beautiful to witness their apoplexy sheer horror and they more they skreech the more she twists the knife.

Its amazing to me.

Yowsah!

That's good enough to post TWICE!

ZING!

Ann did the right thing by putting it in writing rather than an interview which could be given the 60 Minutes cut and paste treatment.

Conservatives and Catholics are the groups with the biggest discrimination against them in Canada and the ones who have the least pushback. Good for you Ann to fight back the lunacy of the left in Canada.
