Soldiers do risk their lives every day.
We're not talking about eliminating risks here (as if they didn't exist), because we all have risks in life, no matter who we are.
What we're talking about is that guy's first responsibility (which is to his family, his wife-to-be and his kids), and then, minimizing his risks (by his own proper choices), and not "eliminating" risks.
Being irresponsible towards his family and not minimizing risks... he has simply failed his family and done so for someone who is not even his family. That's putting his family second.
And the military does the most in minimizing risks. Just consider this... how many military people were killed in combat in Gulf War I? You can see that they minimize risks. It was less risky in Gulf War I in fighting those battles, than it was driving on U.S. Highways, in any one day in America... :-)
You’re not my family, but several members of my family have risked their lives for you. Their risks were not minimal by any standard. Now please quit trying to minimize the risks our heroes take, just so you can pretend to make your point. Trample someone other than our military personnel to “justify” your self-serving cowardice.
You can excuse cowardice all you want.
The rest of us don’t and aren’t.
Fine. you don’t take any risks. Just watch the kid get murdered and live with yourself, but count us out.
I don’t know how you can live with yourself.
