There are no guarantees in life. He could have stood by and watched the boy get murdered and died in a traffic accident on the way home anyway.

He's despicable for recklessly and irresponsibly abandoning his family (his wife-to-be and his two kids) to be without any breadwinner and without support from him, for the rest of their lives and having them irresponsibly given over to the nanny state for society to take care of them, instead of him taking care of them -- as is his sole responsibility -- and not society's.
That's exactly how to raise more Democrats (and not conservatives) in our society... yeah, a good idea all right...
